"Big Daddy" is the twenty-fourth episode of The Golden Girls, originally airing on May 3, 1986.

Blanche's father Big Daddy Hollingsworth comes to Miami, announcing that he has sold the family plantation and is setting out to become a country singer. Meanwhile, Sophia places an apparent curse on a neighbor who refuses to remove his tree that fell onto the lanai during a storm.

  • According to Rose, St. Olaf was founded by Heinrich Van Anderdulen.
  • This episode introduces us to Big Daddy Hollingsworth. He is played by Murray Hamilton in this episode and later replaced by David Wayne due to Hamilton's death later that year in 1986.
  • Big Daddy and Blanche refer to their plantation as Twin Oaks in this episode; in later episodes, it's always referred to as simply Hollingsworth Manor.
