Big Brother 6 in 2005 was the sixth series of Big Brother in the UK, a reality television show on Channel 4, in which a number of contestants live an isolated existence in a purpose-built house who try to avoid being evicted by public vote, with the aim of winning a large cash prize at the end of the run. This series lasted for 11 weeks, currently the second-longest that the series has run for. It was won by Anthony Hutton. The show surpassed Big Brother 4 and received the lowest viewer ratings of all the Big Brother series. The constestants had failed the most amount of house tasks of all the series and post eviction wise, none of them have managed to sustain a long term showbiz career, making it the least amount of contestants to do so in any series within a year after the show ended.

The sixth series began on 27 May 2005 and ended on 12 August of the same year. The broadcaster, Channel 4, made their previously subscription-only E4 channel available on Freeview from the start of this series.

[edit] The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden was first used on Day 29, when Big Brother contestants Kinga Karolczak, Orlaith McAllister and Eugene Sully secretly entered the house, minutes after Roberto Conte was evicted. For several days, the three housemates had to live in the Secret Garden, with only Makosi knowing their existence.

The Secret Garden was decorated like a jungle, and the three secret housemates were initially only supplied with fig leaves to cover only the main essentials of their bodies. This created the idea of an Adam and Eve style jungle. With Makosi's help, they had to steal clothes and food from the main Big Brother House when the other housemates were asleep, and to make sure that the other housemates did not find out about them.

The secret housemates were forced to live in the garden for several days. At the end of their stay, Makosi had to choose two of the three secret housemates to enter the main house. She chose Orlaith and Eugene, although Kinga re-entered the house after Orlaith walked out on Day 65.

[edit] Anthony Hutton

Anthony Hutton (born 1982) is a 70s dancer from Consett in County Durham. Anthony won Big Brother 6 with 57.3% of the vote, narrowly beating Eugene and walking away with £50,000.

Craig Coates (born 1985) is a hair stylist from Cromer, Norfolk.

Derek Laud (born 9 August 1963) is a speech writer for the Conservative Party originally from Battersea but now living in Kensington.

The last housemate to be up for eviction, he was voted out on Day 71 (August 5), receiving 58% of the vote against his friend Eugene. Kemal was a guest at Derek's 41st Birthday party a few days later.

[edit] Eugene Sully

Sully (born November 30, 1977) is from Crawley in West Sussex. He attained a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering in 2000 from the University of Sussex and helped manage the student radio station. Prior to his period in the Big Brother house, he worked as an engineer for Beat 106 in Scotland before becoming a Spectrum Planning Engineer for the BBC Research & Development department; he also unsuccessfully stood as a Labour Party candidate in Sussex prior to going into the Big Brother house. Although Eugene came second in BB6, he emerged from the house £50,000 richer after being offered (and accepting) half of the prize fund in the final week.

Since leaving the BB house, Sully has presented the breakfast show on Mercury FM (Surrey & Sussex) and appeared on Blue Peter, Top of the Pops and the children's show Dick and Dom in da Bungalow as well as being a contestant on the BBC2 quiz show Eggheads with a team he called "Eugenius", he has also carried out interviews on various radio stations and also appeared on Brainiac: Test Tube Baby where he set up experiments and was judged and got 20 out of 30 (2006). He also appeared on Channel 4's "8 Out Of 10 Cats: Big Brother Special" in August 2006. He is currently in training to become a pilot.

He also attended an awards ceremony for the Closer magazine honouring gifted children last November. He is also a member of the IEE and a member of the Crawley Amateur Radio Club.

Sully's mother, Janet, is a Labour Party, West Sussex County Councillor representing Bewbush, Gossops Green & Southgate in Crawley. In 2006, Sully stood in the council election for the ward of Furnace Green, Crawley, West Sussex, as a candidate for Labour, where he came second to the Conservative candidate. [1]

Sully is also a disc jockey at an Internet-based station based in Worthing called Passion Radio where he has a pre-recorded programme which is regularly transmitted on Sunday mornings between 0700 and 1000 hours and earlier in the summer of 2006 he presented a weekday programme for Uckfield FM during their festival campaign. He has recently locked himself in a studio at a station in Oxford where he is now a chief engineer, where he played the Muppets theme tune constantly for six hours until his managers came round to his way of thinking that better music was played on the station.

Recently Sully covered for Ryan Morrison's late evening slot on Passion Radio, and carried out some filming at the annual Birdman event for Bognor Film and Television Productions. He has recently presented some weekday programmes on Rocket FM during their Bonfire season andhe has also presented some programmes for an Internet website television station called SoFreshTV.

Sully has since moved back to Scotland and is currently working for BBC Scotland where he is working in television operations. He has since appeared in the studio audience during a transmission of Channel 4's The Charlotte Church Show on 2 March 2007.

[edit] Kemal Shahin

Kemal Shahin was born on November 18 1985 and is originally from the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). Before entering the show Kemal was a student of English Literature, Cultural History and Drama and Liverpool John Moore's University. Kemal was also a Bellydancer, having won awards for his dance in Turkey.

He was the thirteenth person to enter the Big Brother house (dressed in a red sari) and the ninth to leave (in a green sari) on July 29, gaining 51.1% of the public vote.

Since Big Brother, Shahin has featured in various magazines and newspapers since leaving the house, notably a high fashion shoot with Attitude Magazine, a masculine makeover with Now Magazine in 2006, where he was given a total makeover and a story with New Magazine in March 2007, talking about being Transgendered.

Shahin appeared on Sky News in early 2006 with fellow contestant Makosi Musambasi.

Shahin has starred in Pantomime twice since Big Brother, playing the Fairy God Diva both times. In 2005/2006 Kemal played at the King's Theatre in Southsea, and in 2006/2007 in Torquay and Runcorn respectively. In November 2006 Kemal launched the online accessories store missblingbaby.com.

Kemal was in talks to represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, as Kemal is a huge fan of Eurovision. However, Turkey sadly ended negotiations on the grounds of Kemal being transgendered, stating that Turkey was "not built on such principals".

[edit] Kinga Karolczak

Kinga Karolczak (born 1985) is a half Polish, half Kuwaiti market researcher from London.

Since the house Kinga has featured in many newspaper and magazine articles, and has also claimed to have fallen in love with fellow BB6 contestant Kemal Shahin. They have since broken up after Kemal ended their relationship. She recently played at the Celebrity World Cup Soccer Six Tournament. Kinga landed a small part in the feature film Cash And Curry, starring Josh Saha, which is due for release in Summer 2007.

[edit] Lesley Sanderson

Lesley Sanderson is a sales assistant from Huddersfield. She was the second person to be evicted from the Big Brother house, on June 10 (Day 15), gaining 36% of the public vote.

In Autumn of 2005, Lesley was allegedly raped in a hotel in Leeds.^[2] Also she claims that since Big Brother she has struggled to cope with fame and developed a drinking problem.

Since leaving the Big Brother House, Lesley is embarking on a singing career. She was due to record a single called Hated and plans to write a book about her experiences.^[3] The People reports that she was paid £15,000 for Big Brother.

[edit] Makosi Musambasi

Makosi Musambasi (born 24 September 1980) is a registered cardiac nurse, who worked in a coronary care unit, originally from Zimbabwe but now living in High Wycombe. A story in The Sun during the final week claimed that a talent agency had invoiced the producers of Big Brother for £609 for procuring her services; The Sun alleged that this proved she was in fact an actress rather than a genuine contestant. This was denied by Big Brother on the finale night, with the explanation that the money was paid to the talent agency (which does represent Makosi) for work relating to the supplementary show Big Brother's Big Mouth.

In August 2006, Makosi suffered a miscarriage four and a half months into a pregnancy with an unknown man.

Mary O'Leary (born 30 May 1974) is a psychic advisor, writer, and practising white witch from London. She was born to a former priest and nun in Dublin, Ireland. She claims to remember a past life in Atlantis and that she has been abducted by aliens seven times.

Maxwell Ward is from Islington, North London who supports Arsenal Football Club. He was the sixth evictee from the house, and left on July 8, with 57% of the vote.

[edit] Orlaith McAllister

Orlaith McAllister (born April 26, 1979) is a business studies student, model and runner-up in the 1999 Miss Northern Ireland contest to Zöe Salmon, the winner. She was Belfast's woman of the year in 2005. She entered the house on Day 32 after being voted in by Makosi (see Day 30). She was obsessed with her new boobies.

McAllister has since embarked on a career as a glamour model, appearing half-naked in weekly men's magazines such as Nuts and Zoo. Orlaith was one of the competitors in the 2006 Miss Great Britain contest, but, despite being favourite for the title lost out to Danielle Lloyd, Miss Warrington.

McAllister recently is engaged to Irish property developer and presenter, Gary McCausland, and has had a baby girl with him.

Roberto Conte (born 1973 in Italy), is a former teacher, and since 1996, has lived in Liverpool. He was once a paratrooper in the Italian army. He is a professional basketball player and windsurfer. He was also a finalist in the 1996 'Most Handsome Man in Italy' competition.

Roberto was a Religious Education teacher at St Edmund Of Canterbury Catholic High School in Huyton, Liverpool. [4]

He also was a teacher at De La Salle catholic boys school in Croxteth, Liverpool; which Wayne Rooney used to attend. He was then an assistant at Birchwood Community High School in Warrington, teaching PE.

Since leaving the house Roberto has appeared on the chat show Heads Up with Richard Herring to discuss his time on Big Brother and his love of poker. He is currently a temporary substitute teacher, teaching at Rainhill High School in St Helens, England.

Sam Heuston (born 1982 in Surrey, England) is a marketing student from Cheam. She was the third person to be evicted from the Big Brother House, when faced against Derek and Roberto. She received 59% of the public vote when she was voted out on June 17 (Day 22).

Since leaving the Big Brother house, Heuston has had photo shoots in The News of the World newspaper, in weekly men's magazines such as Nuts, Maxim and Zoo, and has declined offers of work from Playboy TV^{[citation needed]}. She has also appeared on an episode of Italian Big Brother in the audience.

She has a small cameo in Brit Flick "Clubbing to Death" playing a Cage Rage ring girl. The film stars Nick Moran, Huey Morgan and Dave Courtney and is due out in 2007.

Davina conducted her interview in a Bikini, despite it being at night. She is currently residing in London with fellow housemate Mary.^{[citation needed]}

[edit] Saskia Howard-Clarke

Saskia Howard-Clarke is a "promotions girl" from London. She was the fifth evictee from the house, on July 1.

Since leaving the house Saskia has sustained a career as a glamour model, regularly appearing in Nuts magazine. Unfortunately, while her breasts appeared magnificent while covered up on television, once revealed they proved to be as sorry pair of spaniel's ears as one has seen.

Saskia and Maxwell continued their relationship after they left the house. It was reported in OK magazine in February 2007 that Maxwell and Saskia are no longer together.

[edit] Kieron "Science" Harvey

Science is a music and self-styled "entertainment entrepreneur" from Chapeltown, Leeds. He has a band called Urban Productions and has won a BBC award for documentary film making.

He was evicted in week eight when up against Orlaith McAllister in the second closest public vote in Big Brother history with only one percent between the two housemates (50.5%/49.5%), on July 22.

Vanessa Layton-McIntosh is a 19 year-old student from Croydon. She was the seventh person to be evicted from the house on July 15.

Week 1	Tasks	The "unlucky thirteenth" housemate was chosen randomly on Day One as Makosi, when she was first to respond to a call by Big Brother for "a housemate" to go to the diary room. Makosi was told she would automatically be up for eviction that week unless she managed to get the most nominations from her housemates, in which case she had to nominate two people for eviction. She was to keep this task secret. Makosi succeeded in her secret mission and chose Craig and Mary to be up for eviction on 3 June 2005. Mary was the viewers' choice for eviction.
	Exits	Mary was evicted on Day 8.
Week 2	Punishments	In a conversation with Lesley, Vanessa broke the game rules by discussing whom she would be nominating. Although the nominations still took place, Big Brother decided to ignore the results and ruled that, for the first time in the UK series, every housemate would be up for eviction.
	Exits	Lesley was evicted on Day 15.
Week 3	Punishments	In Week 3, Craig, Derek and Roberto were banned from nominating after talking about the nomination procedure, breaking a key rule. Clips of their discussions (mainly concerning Saskia) were played into the house via the plasma screen in the living room.
	Exits	Sam was evicted on Day 22.
Week 4	Tasks	On Day 24, Big Brother set the housemates the Room 101 task. Maxwell selected himself to be worker number one, automatically making him the unlucky worker. Maxwell was assigned to disgusting tasks such as sorting maggots. The true task was for the other housemates to convince Maxwell that they were all doing the same tasks that he was performing whilst in reality living in luxury. The housemates passed the task and won a luxury budget.
	Exits	Roberto was evicted on Day 29.
Week 5	Tasks	On Day 30, less than 24 hours after Kinga, Eugene and Orlaith had entered the Secret Garden, a red button appeared in the main house. Makosi pressed the button and was immediately called to the Diary Room. She entered the Secret Garden, met Kinga, Eugene and Orlaith, and was instructed to help them by stealing food and other supplies from the main house. If she failed to do so or was discovered by her fellow housemates, she would be automatically put up for the public vote. Makosi was successful in her task. Before completing the task, Makosi had to evict one housemate from the secret garden – she chose Kinga who later returned to the Big Brother house on Day 66 to replace Orlaith who walked a day earlier.
	Punishments	For the third time, nominations had been discussed, this time between Maxwell and Anthony, so they were banned from nominating.
	Exits	Saskia was evicted on Day 36.
Week 6	Exits	Maxwell was evicted on Day 43.
Week 7	Tasks	Big Brother played mind games with the housemates, informing them that during the week Big Brother would lie twice. Big Brother then told housemates that nominations that week were optional. This was Big Brother's first lie. All nominations are compulsory, so the housemates who did not nominate were put to the public vote as punishment. When the results of the nominations were announced Big Brother stated that Anthony, Craig and Kemal were up for eviction. This was Big Brother's second lie. In fact, these three were the only housemates to nominate, so it was everyone else who was subject to the public vote.
	Exits	The housemates had to pick whom to evict out of the two people with the most votes. These turned out to be Makosi and Vanessa, with Makosi receiving the largest percentage of votes. All of the housemates with the exception of Kemal chose Vanessa to be the 7th person to leave, so on Day 50, Vanessa was evicted from the house.
Week 8	Exits	Science was evicted On Day 57.
Week 9	Tasks	the housemates were given a secret agent task to complete. Kemal was randomly being selected to be a double agent for this task. The housemates failed to realise this, so passed the task. Derek, whom they thought was the Double Agent, was sent into hiding overnight.
	Exits	Kemal was evicted on Day 64.
Week 10	Tasks	On Day 66, Kinga entered the house as Orlaith's replacement. As she was sent in, she was told that if she got at least one person to not nominate her this week, she will be immune from eviction and definitely be in the house for the final week and will be eligible to win. She managed to pass the task easily, receiving no nominations at all.
	Exits	Orlaith walked voluntarily on Day 65. Derek was evicted on Day 71.
Week 11	Tasks	About one hour after Craig was evicted, Big Brother called a housemate to the Diary Room and Eugene was first to respond. He sat down behind a suitcase containing £50,000 in cash - half the actual winner's prize money. Big Brother told him he had the option of winning this half of the prize, leaving the other half for the winner. Big Brother told the remaining housemates that if he turned down the money, the prize money would double to £200,000. Eugene was given one minute to make to his decision while he was watched on screen by the rest of the housemates. After about 50 seconds, Eugene had made his decision and chose to take the £50,000.
	Exits	On Day 76, during dinner, Craig was evicted in a surprise mid-week eviction, for being the housemate to have received the least votes (only 4.1%) from the public to win Big Brother on Wednesday evening. On Day 78, the final, Kinga received the least number of public votes (3.8% of the four-way total) and came in 4th place. Makosi came third with 8.7% of the three-way vote. Eugene was next to leave, coming second with 42.7% of the final two-way vote. With 57.3% of the two-way vote, Anthony was the winner of Big Brother 2005.

Note 1: Makosi had a secret mission to get the most nominations. She succeeded in her task. She had to choose the two housemates to go up for eviction. She chose Craig and Mary.
Note 2: As Vanessa discussed nominations, all housemates were up for eviction. As a result of this, all nominations depicted in the table for week 2 were void.
Note 3: Craig, Derek and Roberto were banned from nominations for discussing nominations.
Note 4: Anthony and Maxwell were banned from nominations for discussing nominations. As Makosi was on a secret mission, she had to evict one person from the secret garden, the other two entered the house.
Note 5: Big Brother set the housemates a task, telling them Big Brother would lie to them twice. Big Brother told the housemates that the weeks nominations were optional. This was the first lie. Only Anthony, Craig and Kemal nominated, meaning that all others were up for the public vote. Big Brother then told the second lie by announcing that the housemates up for eviction were Anthony, Craig and Kemal, when in fact they were the only housemates not up. On eviction night, the housemates decided which of the two housemates with the most eviction votes would leave. Makosi and Vanessa were chosen by the public and all the housemates except Kemal voted to evict Vanessa.
Note 6: Instead of nominating those that they wished to evict, the housemates had to nominate those who they wanted to stay in the house.
Note 7: After Orlaith walked, Kinga was brought back in the house to replace her. She was instantly set a secret mission in which she needed to get at least one person not to nominate her. If one person failed to nominate her, she would be immune and would definitely appear in the final week of Big Brother. She passed her task as none of the housemates nominated her for eviction.
Note 8: There were no nominations in the final week. There was also a mid-week eviction in the final week. The housemate to have received the fewest votes from the public (to win) by Wednesday night was evicted, leaving four housemates for the final on Friday. The housemates were all evicted on that day between 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM. They were evicted with 4th place going first and the winner leaving last.
