Bidoof (ビッパ Bippa?, Bipper in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Bidoof is famous for being one of the Pokémon revealed before the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The purpose of Bidoof in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
The English name Bidoof was first reported at the 2007 American International Toy Fair in New York City,[3] which is likely a portmanteau of beaver and doofus. It was later officially confirmed in the May 2007 (Volume 215) issue of Nintendo Power.[4] Its Japanese name Bipper is a portmanteau of the words beaver and overbite (出っ歯 deppa?).

[edit] Biological characteristics
Bidoof resembles a woodchuck, marmot, gopher, or a beaver; it has two large incisors, a red nose, and fluffy fur. It also looks very similar to the Sewellel, and evolves into the beaver-like Beadull.
It is called the Round Mouse Pokémon because of its round cheeks and tail, which give it cute appeal. It has a sweet expression, but, despite its appearance, it is quick to move.
Male Bidoof have five tail "curls", and females have only three, as seen in the picture.
[edit] In the video games
Bidoof is one of many new Pokémon to make its first appearance in the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS.
Bidoof plays the same role as Rattata, Sentret, and Zigzagoon, as a rodent-like Pokémon available to catch early on in the game. It has been confirmed by Famitsu that Bidoof learns attacks such as Rattata's ex-signature moves Hyper Fang and Super Fang.
It has two new abilities: Natural, which ignores the foe's stat changes except for Speed; and Simple Minded, which raises the effect of Bidoof's hold items or attack after-effects.
Bidoof is a weak Pokémon overall. However, it can learn powerful moves such as Thunderbolt and Ice Beam.
Bidoof evolves into Beadull at level 15.
[edit] In the anime
Bidoof make two appearances in the episodes "Hikari! Contest Debut!!" and "Roaring Haganeil! Protect Bipper Village!!"
