Biddulph Township, Ontario

Comprised of 40,000 acres within Middlesex County, the Township of Biddulph was surveyed by agents of the Canada Company in 1830. The township took its name from John Biddulph, one of the earliest directors of the Canada Company. [1]. On January 1, 1999 the Village of Lucan, Ontario and the Township of Biddulph amalgamated to form the Township of Lucan Biddulph.
In 1838 the Wilberforce Colony was established on land in the township, a colony of Black Americans emigrating form the United States.
Prior to amalgamation by the Province of Ontario, the township contained the communities of Granton, Clandeboye and the Village of Lucan.
