It is known for its Silk Sarees and Silk Textiles which are called as Bhuvanagiri Pattu.

There are two higher secondary schools in Bhuvanagiri - the Government Boys Higher Secondary School and the Government Girls Higher Secondary School. The Annamalai University is a few kms away from Bhuvanagiri.
