Bharatpur, Nepal

Bharatpur is a city in central-south Nepal. It is the district headquarters of the Chitwan District and has a population of 89,323 (2001 census).

Bharatpur lies in adjacent to another bigger town, Narayangarh. These towns make up Bharatpur Municipality. Though most of the shopping districts lie in Narayangarh, Bharatpur is home to government offices, big hospitals and colleges. It is the place where nation's premier cancer hospital, B.P Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, lies.

Bharatpur Airport is in the central part of the town. Hakim Chowk and Chaubis Kothi are two major centres forming intersection of major roads.Bharatpur is a fast growing city in Nepal. Many people wants see Bharatpur as the capital of Nepal. It is exactly in the center of Nepal

Communication: Two major local FM radio stations also broadcast from Bharatpur. The town has also its own TV channnel called Beso Channel.

Education: Birendra Multiple Campus, Saptagandaki Multipule Campus, Chitwan Science College are famous educational institutions in Bharatpur. The graduates of those colleges are active in national and international forum.Ajaya Dhakal,One of the gradutes of Chitwan Science College was a scientist/technical officer in Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), previously known as RONAST.

Transportation: You can get transportation services to go everywhere from Bharatpur. Paras Bus Park is located in Bharatpur -9 Saradpur. It was known as Sajha Bus Park but the local people wanted to develop the bus park so it was named as ex-crown prince Paras Saha. But many people are against the name. The bus park is under construction for several years. The bus terminal is being built just opposite of Ram Krishn Dhakal's house and it reaches to Baikuntha Subedi's field.
