Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Donatello has created a device to communicate with distant planets. One night, while trying to communicate with the "Turtle Nebula" (a nebula shaped like a turtle) from the rooftop of the Channel 6 building, an alien spaceship crashes on Earth. The spaceship lands on the Channel 6 rooftop. Out of the spaceship comes an alien lizard named "Algernon". Algernon tells Donatello that his broadcast caused the crash and damaged the spaceship. Algernon insists that Donatello now fix it.

Meanwhile, the other TMNT are watching one of April O'Neil's broadcasts on TV. April is covering a story about Hiram Grelch, a businessman who is trying to take over all the TV stations in the area. In the middle of her broadcast, Hiram Grelch's men show up and kidnap April. Donatello and Algernon see this and rush to help her, but the kidnappers get away and bring April to Hiram Grelch's penthouse. When Donatello and Algernon arrive at Hiram Grelch's penthouse, they discover that he has a force field around it and they can't get in. Donatello and Algernon go back to Channel 6 to get a laser cannon from Algernon's spaceship to blast through the force field. Back at Channel 6, they discover that Hiram Grelch has stolen the spaceship.

After April's disappearance on TV, the other TMNT go out in search for her. When they don't find her, they turn on the TV to see if there is any news on April's disappearance. Instead, they see Donatello on TV. Donatello and Algernon have a plan to free April and get Algernon's spaceship back. Algernon, who can change himself, has changed himself into a monster and demands his spaceship back. If the spaceship is not returned, he will start an interplanetary war. Donatello broadcasts an alien invasion movie through Hiram Grelch's windows, which he is able to do because of the force field. The broadcasts makes it appear that Earth is being invaded. Hiram Grelch gives up. While Hiram Grelch is panicking from the "so called invasion," Algernon and Donatello manage to get in under the force field and shut the power off to the building. The other TMNT arrive in the Turlte Blimp, fight Hiram Grelch and his men and free April.

The TMNT take Algernon and the spaceship to the sewers, where the TMNT discover that the only thing that will repair Algernon's spaceship is pizza. Algernon returns home.
