Beyond Humanity is the third album from Interface. Although the group's sophomore effort, Angels In Disguise was a large success in the electronic music scene, financial trouble with their label Tinman Records forcefully began a period of dormancy for the band. Tinman ceased activity at the end of 2005. At that point, work on this follow-up album was well underway, and the band began searching for a new record label, coming to terms with Nilaihah records. The new signing not only meant the release of the album, but a much more stable position for the group.
Released as the Beyond Humanity Expanded Edition on March 14, 2006, the album took ten of the eleven projected tracks from the original listing, the omission being an instrumental called "Darkness Prevails" that followed "Faith In Nothing" (In late 2005 the band held a listening party on the Side-Line.com website chat room, with "Darkness" being included in the track listing). The album marks a more aggressive direction than its predecessor, replacing its warmth and optimism with a cold, abrasive tone throughout. The album was mostly created by band mastermind Eric Eldredge, but this time featured much more contribution from Jon Billian and Evan Eldredge. Both became more involved in the songwriting and production process, with Billian creating the intro piece "Gravity" and Eric's brother Evan writing the rock-sounding "Wonderland". The album's intended vision is a suite of examples of how mankind is losing control of his world to such forces as war, technology, devotion, and the passage of time.
The album also reflects a change in the band's production techniques as it was entirely produced in the environment of a computer, with minimal use of hardware synthesizers. In contrast, the previous album was created with an array of modern and vintage gear. The DNA versus printed circuit cover was designed by Evan. Stylistically, it mostly has a modern aggrotech sound to it, without as much diversity as previous releases.
