Between the Buried and Me is a mathcore quintet from Raleigh, North Carolina.

[1] "Categorizations can be forgotten right up from the start and solely a self try can show off the broad spectrum of Between the Buried and Me."

Their name is derived from a section of lyrics in Counting Crows’ song "Ghost Train," which proceed as follows: "Took the cannonball down to the ocean/Across the desert from the sea to shining sea/I rode a ladder that climbed across the nation/Fifty million feet of earth between the buried and me."

[edit] Biography

[2] The band was founded in early 2001 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina by vocalist Tommy Rogers (From Here On, Undying, Prayer For Cleansing), guitarist Paul Waggoner (Prayer For Cleansing), drummer Will Goodyear (Voids, Prayer For Cleansing), guitarist Nick Fletcher (Azazel), and bassist Jason King (Azazel).

Bassist Dan Briggs of Erie, Pennsylvania replaced Jason King as the band's bass guitarist. Briggs has also been a member of Espinaca, Nemo, and MFWC.

Members of the band are also vegan.

According to a MySpace bulletin posted by Dan Briggs on January 15, Between the Buried and Me are currently writing material for the next album. Recording is slated to begin this May, followed by a tour in the summer.

[edit] Side Projects

  • Tommy Rogers has his own electronic side project, "Giles".
  • Dusty Waring and Blake Richardson are also in a metalcore band called Glass Casket (Abacus Recordings). This has led some to question the future of Glass Casket, although both members of Glass Casket have stated that neither band is currently in jeopardy, as other members of Glass Casket are currently busy with college.
