Better Than Sliced Beats is an original album of 13 remixes, originally created for an open competition started on May 14, 2005 to place a bonus track on the re-release of SGX's debut album Synesthetic, Synesthetic v1.1. Impressed by the quality and volume of the submissions given to him, SGX organized the effort into a full-fledged album. Predominantly based off of electronica tracks, the album encompasses a range of genres including trance, breakbeat, ambient and new age. The album was titled by SGX fan "Uncle."

"Tell Me a Story [Prolixity Mix]" is an extended concept of "Tell Me a Story [Compendium Mix]," which was the remix track originally created and chosen by SGX to supplement Synesthetic v1.1.
