Bettendorf Middle School

Bettendorf Middle School (BMS) is a three-year comprehensive middle school located in Bettendorf, Iowa. Roughly 60 instructors teach more than 1000 students using an eight-period daily schedule with 45 minute periods.

The three million dollar Bettendorf Middle School was completed in 1972 with a newer industrial arts/locker room addition and gymnasium completed in 1981. The air conditioned complex is highlighted by a landscaped inner courtyard, and spacious library/media center, resource centers in each instructional area, six fully networked computer labs, and a large gym.

Bettendorf, Iowa is a young community of more than 30,000 people. The median age of the residents is 34 years. It is a well-educated citizenry with more than 30 percent being college graduates and more than 10 percent holding postgraduate degrees.
The Bettendorf School District serves 4,500 students with a high school, middle school and six elementary schools.

The Bettendorf Middle School instructional staff consists of 60 teachers and two media specialists. The staff is supported my five counselors, two attendance clerks, a nurse and twenty-seven support staff.

Interscholastic teams for boys include: baseballs, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track, and wrestling. Interscholastic teams for girls include: basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, and volleyball. Bettendorf High School is a member of the Mississippi Athletic Conference, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Past records reflect many conference champions in all of these sports, as well as regional, state-level, and All American champions.
A group of community members organized the BMS Fitness Education Center Committee and raise $300,000 in funds for the fitness education center at Bettendorf High School. The Bettendorf School Board matched $300,000 to fund the $600,000 project. The project was completed in the summer of 2002. Adam vesole was a loser who decided to edit this page.
