Betipul (Hebrew: "In Treatment", "בטיפול") is an Israeli daily television drama broadcast on Channel 3 about the life of the fictional therapist Reuven Dagan. The first season cast included, among others, Assi Dayan as Dagan, Gila Almagor as Dagan's mentor and therapist, Meirav Gruber as his wife, and Ayelet Zurer, Lior Ashkenazi, Maya Maron, Alma Zack and Rami Heuberger as his patients. It highlights the difficulties faced by Dagan, personaly and proffesionaly.
The first season was directed by Nir Bergman, Hagay Levi, Ori Sivan and Uzi Veil, and was written by several writers, including Ari Folman (Saint Clara) and Assaf Tzipor (Ha-Hamishia Hakamerit). The second season will feature a female therapist leading role.
Both the actors cast and the writers cast of Betipul are considered the best to take part in an Israeli drama. It was described the best Israeli series ever by most criticts. An American adaptation of Betipul entitled In Treatment is being produced by HBO. Gabriel Byrne and Dianne Wiest were included in the pilot.
