Bethwell Allan Ogot

Dr Bethwell Allan Ogot (B.A. Ogot) (b. 1929) is a Kenyan and Luo historian. He was born in Gem Location of Central Nyanza Province, Kenya and was educated at Ambira, Maseno Secondary School, Makerere University College, and St. Andrew's University before doing post-graduate work at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has been chairman of the History Department of the University College, Nairobi.

In 1959 he married the author (to be) Grace Emily Akinyi.
