Bethany Curve is a shoegaze/ alternative rock band from Santa Cruz, California. The band formed in 1994, taking its name from a street in San Francisco. Their sound is based on shimmering layers of heavily-delayed/-reverbed dual guitars, androgynous goth-style vocals, bass, and drums. When asked in an interview about this type of songwriting, singer/songwriter Richard Millang claims direct inspiration from his dreams, and from his idol Black Francis of Pixies.
Cellist/bassist Daved Lockhart joined in late 2001, but later left. Continuing under its longtime motto, "Atmosphere | Arrangement | Sound | Layering | Noise", Bethany Curve is still active, currently working on its fifth full-length record, and playing several live shows each year, though rarely venturing outside of California. They are currently in search of a new bassist.
