Betazed is a planet in the fictional television, movie, and book series Star Trek. The Class M planet; a member of the United Federation of Planets, is populated by a species of telepathic humanoids, the Betazoids. They were first introduced on the series when a half Human, half Betazoid character named Deanna Troi was introduced as ship's counselor on the Star Trek: The Next Generation television show. The planet is close to Federation Starbase G-6.The planet is known for its large blue oceans.[1]

A young lieutenant, William Riker, was stationed on Betazed, where he became romantically involved with the psychology student, Deanna Troi.[2][3]

The biennial Trade Agreements Conference, an interstellar congress, was held on Betazed in 2366.

Lake Cataria on Betazed was one of Deanna Troi's favorite places.[4] The Janaran Falls is a great waterfall located on the planet.

In the final year of the Dominion War, Betazed was conquered by the Dominion. It is presumed that it was returned at the end of the war. In the (non-canon) Star Trek novel The Battle of Betazed, it is shown how the planet was ruled by the Jem'Hadar and their Cardassian allies for four months. It was eventually liberated by the Betazoids using telepathic emotional projection against the Jem'Hadar.
