[edit] Image:Hemocyanin.jpg

Heya, do you have permission to repost Image:Hemocyanin.jpg here? If not, it is considered a copyright violation and will be deleted. &#0xfeff;--fvw* 21:27, 2004 Dec 16 (UTC)

The image is generated from a .cn3 file off the Pubmed Network and is not under copyright protection. If you wish I could generate the image my self off .cn3 file. BerserkerBen
The resulting files look reasonably different, so I suspect the generation does count as creating a copyrightable work. The second one you uploaded looks fine though. Could you tag it with the appropriate tag from Wikipedia:Image copyright tags? Thanks! &#0xfeff;--fvw* 22:40, 2004 Dec 16 (UTC)
Actually I can change the color, style and arangement of the model, it also depends on what modeling display program is used. But I do like hte advatage of Home made images, I made one for Image:Hemerythrin.jpg as well. BerserkerBen

[edit] Wiktionary links

Ben, it is not Wikipedia policy to create inline links to wiktionary articles, such as you did to steric in hemoglobin. Sometimes a further search on Wikipedia will give you the relevant information. In this case, something about protein structure must be present (otherwise, we should write it!) JFW | T@lk 14:43, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Do you want me to make a page on steric effect then? --BerserkerBen 20:47, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Well, that would be very good! JFW | T@lk 21:30, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Flood Geology

Thanks for getting the "Neutrality" comment in the Flood geology article. There is a guy who watches it like a bulldog. I was going to give it a major workover, but he immediately reverted all my initial edits, and I'm just too busy to argue. Good luck! --DanielCD 03:59, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your support but I'm not going to fight him, rather I will simply state the truth that the article is bias and gross support of pseudoscience… I'll keep that tag up until neutrality is achieved though. --BerserkerBen 04:11, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Deluge (mythology)

May I ask why my minor copy-edit was removed on this? article? I'm prepared to accept there might be a reason, I just can't work out what it might be!

Also, the Black Sea theory does have its own article - Black Sea deluge theory Thryduulf 20:17, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Well then past that link to the black sea deluge thoery --BerserkerBen 20:41, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter

I have removed the copyvio notice, because there is no copyvio that I can see. See my comment at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. -- Curps 06:09, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Great then, then can you merge or copy what in the temp and delete it, or what ever? I guess I could do everyhting but hte delete part. --BerserkerBen 06:16, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Well, I have put up a {{merge}} notice on both pages. It seems like there is useful information on both pages. I don't have time to do the merge right now, though. -- Curps 06:40, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)
well I did it, see Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter for more info.--BerserkerBen 07:13, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] source information for RTG picture

Thanks for finding Image:Soviet RTG.jpg, it's great to have a picture of it. But could you please indicate the source and why you think it's a public domain picture? The only source I can find is on bellona.no, which doesn't release their own stuff into the public domain, and they credit the picture to someone else. --Andrew 17:32, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)

That sites credits the picture to the "Finnmark region government" as a government provided image or information its is open to public domain, but sure that site is the secondary source, credit it as well. --BerserkerBen 18:45, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
It's just not true that government-created images are public domain! For example, everything created by the Canadian government is under Crown copyright, which is in particular not free enough for inclusion in Wikipedia (except for fair use). In fact, the only exceptions I know of are the US Federal government, and the government of the state of California. Other state governments do not release their material as public domain. I hope you have not tagged very many images as public domain for this reason! --Andrew 19:59, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)
far enough then, but what about Finnmark copyright laws?--BerserkerBen 22:08, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
What about them? Unless you have reason to think they release everything into the public domain, we can't assume they do. For general copyright law, essentially every country is a signatory to the Berne convention so it's enforced, albeit with enough minor differences to be a total morass. BTW, I emailed bellona to try to clarify whether we actually have nay rights to the picture at all (other than possible fair use). --Andrew 05:15, Mar 23, 2005 (UTC)
Well then put a fair use tag ang get on with it, there is neither artistic nor monatary value to that picture. --BerserkerBen 06:11, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hemoglobin

Hi, I'm an italian user. I'm writing the hemoglobin page and I want to insert your hemoglobin animation, why don't you upload it on Wiki:commons? thanks

the doc

Sure, you can do it though can't you?, cause I don't really have time right now, grazie.

[edit] Aliens

You pre-empted a plan of mine in moving Silicon-based and Ammonia-based out of Extraterrestrials and suggesting morphology in its place. I was sitting on a section in just that regard and decided to throw it out there when I noticed your edit. Curious if you had had something particular in store. Marskell 19:28, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

I don't know there are a lot of speculation on what alien biosphere would be like, with such variables as surface gravity, sunlight, planetary orbit, planetary tilt, ect, not just in sci-fi heck you can watch national geographic or science channel and occasionally come upon a program that covers all the weird possibility in 3d graphics. --BerserkerBen 03:15, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
Gravity effects are certainly a main point of speculation as they apply not just to aliens but potentially to ourselves on Mars etc. The problem with including too much of that stuff on the Extraterrestrial page is that its hard to distinguish between "good speculation" and junk or between on-topic hypotheses and tangents. Alien biospheres is logically its own topic, for instance. I'd suggest sticking with short, cogent sub-links whenever a particular issue needs clarification rather than getting lost in diversions on the main page; just added Back-contamination for instance. Marskell 09:48, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HAV prototype and charged armor

The HAV link you put in leads to a disambiguation page that has nothing to do with tanks or AFVs. I did several Google searches with several variations of several terms (the funniest of them was a Google image search with the words HAV, tank, and design since it gave me t-shirts for pretty ladies) and could not find anything relevant. Could you spell out the acronym or give more info or cite your sources (as we are all supposed to do in Wikipedia, in theory) so that we can copyedit and add more? Same thing for your paragraph: "Other proposals uses a layered charged armor powered by a capacitor under neither standard armor: penetration of the standard armor by a shaped charge results in a massive discharging of the electricity from the charged armor into the incoming jet of explosive gas/plasma this disrupts its flow and direction, also the electric discharge can vaporize molten metal used in some shape charges to increase penetration." With the sources we could understand what is going on, otherwise it isn't clear if you are saying that the capacitor is under standard armor or not, or that standard armor is not involved at all. --AlainV 00:13, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Sorry I'm pretty sure I miss-acronym it, I was looking for the proper acronym and place HAV (for Heavy Armour Vehicle in conjunction with the MAV as a temporary acronym when I was writing it and gathering sources, and forget to change it, in the report http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/news/1997/5fcs97.pdf it is mentioned as FCS (Future Combat Systems) and the [http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/fcs.htm FCS) site on FAS states the specific tank design as “US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command's future land combat system vehicle” aaaaaah I don’t think that can be acronymed (UATaACflcs?) here is as quote:

The US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command's future land combat system vehicle is a 40-ton concept based on evolutionary tank design and technology which pushes the two-person crew down and forward into the hull with a remote turret. The crew receives information from on-board target acquisition and hit avoidance sensors. Target acquisition sensors are the gunner's primary sight, a panoramic sight and an auxiliary sight. Hit avoidance sensors are mounted in the four corners of the turret. A high pressure, 120mm gun (XM291) is mounted on the turret.

Anyways I'll fix that now, as for my references there all listed at the bottom, a more formal and proper reference layout I did not have time for, but please correct that if you wish. --BerserkerBen 02:27, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hemoglobin t-r state ani.gif

Hi, there seems to be some transparency problem with Image :Hemoglobin t-r state ani.gif. You might want to take a look. -- Paul Richter 15:57, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

What is the problem? --BerserkerBen 20:11, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hemoglobin t-r gif.

I love this and it works great on the page. However, it would be even better if the oxygen binding to the iron were shown as something other than just a stick. Couldn't you put the O2 molecule in as a thingy of proper size, and some other color, so it was more obvious where it goes? Sbharris 22:39, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Could you put in a reference for...

This edit on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, something like <ref>NASA TV 13 March 2006 ''MRO orbital insertion review''</ref>. Thx. --JamesHoadley 06:14, 14 March 2006 (UTC) Ya, NASA TV, I watch and recorded the insertion and post insertion conferences and that is what they said happened. I don’t know if I can link it, unless you can find a transcript.--BerserkerBen 06:22, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "censorship"

What exactly are you meant to do about people who randomly censor images without even discussing it?

I don't understand the question. --BerserkerBen 22:50, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
oh, sorry. Errm ... this is in reference to the image on Circumcision that someone replaced with "censored due to obsenity" or something. I was wondering if there was like an official, or even unofficial wiki-way of sorting it? or is it just revert and hope for the best? (i just realised i forgot to sign the first comment too, sorry again)--Alex uk 86 13:07, 25 May 2006

[edit] Image:D-Lysergic Acid Diethylamid.jpg listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:D-Lysergic Acid Diethylamid.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 07:05, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
I have no disagreement with its deletion what so ever; what bothers me though is that a picture that vulgar, disgusting and offensive to women and midgets could last that long on wikipedia. --BerserkerBen 16:26, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Molecular and Cellular Biology Wikiproject Newsletter!

We have a new newsletter!
As you've no doubt noticed, there's a new Molecular and Cellular Biology Wikiproject newsletter, which will be sent out about once a month to all WP:MCB members. This newsletter is designed to perform two equally important functions. Firstly (and obviously, perhaps) it will serve to inform the members of the MCB project of such things as important discussions, votes, and article improvement drives. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the periodic correspondance will hopefully encourage a greater level of participation from the MCB community by acting as a gentle reminder of many of the the interesting tasks that are awaiting completion. If you prefer to receive this newsletter in the form of a link, or not receive it at all, you can add your name at Wikipedia:WikiProject Molecular and Cellular Biology/Newsletter/Opt Out List.
New project feature: MCB Article Improvement Drive
Have any pet MCB subjects that you think need attention? Have you been longing to be part of a team of like-minded editors working toward a common goal? If so, the MCB Article Improvement Drive is for you! On the first of every month a new article is selected by the MCB with the goal of promoting it to good article status. Make your nominations and cast your votes now, because the first article will be chosen on September 1!
In an effort to organize and motivate the MCB activities, it has recently been proposed that a member of the MCB project take the role of "director", who would be responsible for the administrative side of the MCB project, including but not limited to coordinating recruiting efforts, spamming the newsletter, and maintaining the Article Improvement Drive and MCB Portal. A special discussion/vote page has been created for this proposal, and the vote will run until 23:59, 10 September 2006 (UTC), unless the community decides otherwise.
Odds and ends: what else you got?
Signed...

[edit] Molecular and Cellular Biology WikiProject Votes

The Molecular and Cellular Biology WikiProject has recently opened two surveys that will help to decide the direction of the project. First, nominations are currently being accepted for the position of coordinator of the project. Second, votes and additional suggestions for the official title of that position are also being taken. As a member of the project, we hope that you'll drop by and voice your opinion. – ClockworkSoul 03:48, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] One more vote for the coordinator of the Molecular and Cellular Biology Wikiproject

Since two of the three editors nominated for Coordinator of the MCB Wikiproject declined their nominations, one more vote has been posted: should the remaining nominee, ClockworkSoul, be named as the coordinator, or should nominations be reopened? Every opinion counts, so please vote! – ClockworkSoul 17:46, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Molecular and Cellular Biology Wikiproject Newsletter

The project main page has gotten a facelift!
When people visit the project, the very first thing that they see tends to be the project's main page, and with this in mind, the main page has been completely overhauled. To enhance readability the various "goals" sections have been merged, and a detailed "how you can help" section has been added. To increase accessibility for more established members, the links to any resources that were in the main body text have been moved onto the navigation bar on the right. Finally, the whole page has been nicely laid out and given a nice attractive look.
New project feature: peer review
I'm proud to announce the addition of out newest feature: peer review! The MCB peer review feature aims serve as a stepping stone to improve articles to featured article status by allowing editors to request the opinions of other members about articles that they might not otherwise see or contribute to.
Project progress
The article worklist
We’ve had quite a bit of progress on the worklist article in the past month. Not only has the list itself nearly doubled in size from 143 to 365 entries, but an amazing three articles have been advanced to FA status, thanks in great part to the efforts of our very own TimVickers! Remember, the state of the worklist is the closest thing we have to quantifying the progress of the project, so if you get the chance, please take a look at the list, pick a favorite article, and improve it!
Collaboration of the Month
Last month's Collaboration of the Month, cell nucleus, was a terrific success! In one month, the article went from a dismal stub to an A-class article. Many thanks to all of the collaborators who contributed, especially ShaiM, who took on the greatest part of the burden. This month's Collaboration of the Month, adenosine triphosphate, isn't getting nearly the attention of its predecessor, so if you can, please lend a hand!
Finally...
The project has a new coordinator, ClockworkSoul! The role - my role - of coordinator will be to harmonize the project's common efforts, in part by organizing the various tasks required to make the project run as smoothly and completely as possible. Many thanks to those who supported me and those participated in the selection process.
