Could there be some explanation/linking of the term suo jure? It's highly obscure for the non-specialist reader, and I had no idea what it meant until I looked it up -- outside Wikipedia! Loganberry (Talk) 00:00, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
With regard to his successor as Lord Lieutenant of Sussex, the post would have ceased to exist with the partitioning of the county in 1974, hence his becoming Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex
