Berobelt (ベロベルト Beroberuto?, Berobelt in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Berobelt in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]

"Bero", part of this Pokémon's name, may be a reference to the sound effect of "slurping", and the word "tongue" in Japanese.

Biological characteristics

Berobelt resembles a lizard with a long tongue. It is a more vivid shade of pink than its predecessor Lickitung. It is also rounder and fatter. Its legs have become less muscular and its tail has become smaller. The cream coloured markings from Lickitung are now yellow and a white patch that resembles a bib or napkin exists above them. A curly tuft now adorns its head.

In the video games

Berobelt is one of several Pokémon of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl that evolve from a Pokémon from a previous generation, Lickitung. It does so when it knows the move Rollout and levels up, but only in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, despite the fact its pre-evolution could learn Rollout in Pokémon Emerald through a Move Tutor, and that a Shadow Lickitung knowing Rollout can be caught in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. This fact makes it one of only two Pokémon (the other being Manmoo) that evolve from a previously obtainable Pokémon in a way that would have been possible in previous games.

Just about each of Berobelt's attributes (aside from its low Speed rating) are above-average; Berobelt's stats are an improvement on its pre-evolution, Lickitung.
