Berner Zeitung

Berner Zeitung (BZ) is a regional newspaper in the canton of Berne, Switzerland. With a distribution of 165,700 (2004), it is number four of the daily newspapers in Switzerland and the leading newspaper in the Canton of Berne. Publisher is Charles von Graffenried and editor-in-chief Michael Hug.
Berner Zeitung emerged in 1977 from Berner Nachrichten and Berner Tagblatt; the first edition was published on 3 January 1979.
The newspaper is owned to 51% by Espace Media Groupe and to 49% by Tamedia AG. The following media are also part of Espace Media Groupe: Berner Bär, Berner Oberländer, Der Bund, Thuner Tagblatt, TeleBärn, Radio Extra Bern, Solothurner Tagblatt.
