Berkhout

The town centre (dark green) and the statistical district (light green) of Berkhout in the municipality of Wester-Koggenland.

Berkhout (52°38′N 5°0′E) is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Wester-Koggenland, and lies about 5 km west of Hoorn.

In 1979, the former municipality of Berkhout merged into the new municipality of Wester-Koggenland, with a part of the municipality going to Wognum.

In 2001, the town of Berkhout had 956 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.18 km², and contained 393 residences.[1] The statistical area "Berkhout", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1780.[2]
