Bergen County Technical High School

Bergen County Technical High School, also known as Bergen Tech, or more commonly "BT", is a secondary school that offers an applied learning experience that strives to utilize the evolving technologies, equipment, and facilities that will define tomorrow’s workplace for students in Bergen County, New Jersey. Bergen Tech is located in Teterboro and is one of three campuses of the Bergen County Technical Schools.

The Bergen County Technical High School, Teterboro Campus, is a full-time public high school that provides a challenging, project-driven curriculum in a technology-infused environment. The curriculum is structured around a core of interdisciplinary technical and academic disciplines that prepare students for post-secondary education and career development work-based experiences.

Bergen Tech was originally a shared-time vocational school which was completely revamped in 2000 to be a full-time, academic High School with students taking classes in their particular "Majors."

Bergen County Technical High School utilizes a selective admissions process. For the 2006-07 school year, there were 504 applicants for 140 spots in Teterboro and 160 applicants for 90 spots in Paramus.[1]

The large applicant pool results partly from interest in their vocational programs and partly from their strong academics. For example they currently offer 14 different Advanced Placement Program (AP) courses, including every science AP course offered by the College Board. Robert Goodman, a Bergen Tech physics teacher, was named New Jersey Teacher of the Year for 2005-2006.[2]

The Bergen Tech sports team includes athletes from all three campuses. The Bergen County Technical High School Knights compete in the Northern New Jersey Interscholastic League (NNJIL), starting with the 2006-07 school year. Bergen Tech is classified by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) as North I, Group IV.
