Berehet

Berehet is one of the 105 woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Semien Shewa Zone, Berehet is bordered on the south by Minjjarna Shenkora, on the west by Hagere Mariamna Kesem, on the northeast by Angolalla Terana Asagirt, on the north by Ankober, and on the east by the Afar Region. The major town in Berehet is Metiteh Bila.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 41,966, of whom 20,647 were males and 21,319 were females; 2,308 or 5.50% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 11.8%. With an estimated area of 902.35 square kilometers, Berehet has an estimated population density of 46.5 people per square kilometer, which is less than the Zone average of 134.37.[1]
