[edit] MAJOR CYBER ATTACK HERE

Folks, the IP address I have used for the last six years has come under major cyber attack in the last few days, so I have abandoned it. So for those who do checkuser requests on me to see if I am a sock puppet or similar, there is now a second IP address that you will find associated with this account, and which should be the only one I use for the indefinite future. --BenBurch 19:10, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I was doing usability testing on the VRWC's new Innernets LibberZapper before its official release. :) - Crockspot 21:26, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, warn a guy first! Sheesh! ;-) --BenBurch 21:34, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
It's nukular powered, you know. - Crockspot 21:36, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
>> cringe << --BenBurch 21:38, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
So you just decided to attack BenBurch with it? What in the world is a LibberZapper anyway, a portscanner? Prodego talk 21:40, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm... methinks the Wellstone Ray needs a warming up. - Crockspot 21:59, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Last time you did that we had that Tsunami... --BenBurch 22:01, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, but that was great for Jeb's Ice Truck business. The kickbacks were awesome! - Crockspot 22:02, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
He's JOKING, Prodego. He's one of the three guys from that side of the fence I actually get along with. --BenBurch 21:45, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, I hope I'm one of the other two. Find a venue yet? VoiceOfReason 00:00, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
You are! And RWR too. And I haven't forgotten you. I have an Arbcom case just now that is taking my minimal free time, but I am thinking that my Live Journal might be a good venue. --BenBurch 01:37, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Your LiveJournal will do nicely, although I suppose you just want the traffic ;) I'm looking forward to this, by the way. I think we can both agree that the amount of sheer acrimony between Right and Left has skyrocketed in the last decade or so, and this will be a good experiment to see if two people on opposite poles can engage in real, substantive, thoughtful, and logical debate. If this works out, you can pick the topic for the next one. VoiceOfReason 02:46, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
VOR, are you trying to pass yourself off as a conservative? - Crockspot 20:58, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Conservative Rumble!!!! (tee hee) You might not believe this, but in normal times I might be considered to be a conservative. I actually worked for Ron Paul's last Libertarian Presidential campaign... --BenBurch 21:26, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
We forgive you, Ben! --Orange Mike 15:27, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Come clean, Ben. You only flirted with the libertarians because you agree with their position on the War on Drugs, am I rite?
And as for you, Crockspot, I call myself a neolibertarian, which is a libertarian who believes that the state's power and duty to defend the citizenry from attack extends to taking proactive measures to engage threats. There's plenty of positions of mine the conservatives abhor, and there's more that the liberals abhor. In practice I generally vote Republican, on the theory that a social conservative can merely delay progress (rollbacks are extremely difficult) while an economic liberal can create new government programs that will never stop growing. But that's beside the point: this particular debate is on the legality of the war in Iraq, and I think it's safe to say that those who believe the war was illegal are generally Left while those who disagree are mostly Right, so for this specific purpose I champion the Right.
Ben, this arbitration thing can't be taking all your time. What's the URL for your LJ? Let's get the party started. VoiceOfReason 17:51, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] White Rose

Hey Benzo, somebody put a speedy delete tag on the WR article, claiming it "fails to assert notability". Someone else removed it and suggested that it go AfD instead. Don't see any further action yet, but you might want to add a sentence or two to the intro to better assert notability. If there is any content that is exclusively available from WR, that would be something to mention that would assert notability better. - Crockspot 19:56, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I probably shouldn't edit it as I have a COI. I appreciate the head's up! --BenBurch 20:09, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
If no one edited any article that they were connected to in some way, half the articles on WP wouldn't exist. I say edit away. I don't buy into the COI arguments except in extremely egregious cases, and there is no hard and fast rule about it. - Crockspot 20:16, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Okay I'll update it a bit, but then you look at it after, OK? --BenBurch 20:37, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Gee, thanks. It's been on my watchlist for a while. Doesn't see much action generally. - Crockspot 21:29, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
No problem. I trust your judgement. --BenBurch 22:28, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
  • The AfD is open. Not looking good either. - Crockspot 20:14, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DeanHinnen

Must have missed that one, thanks for reverting and feel free to revert any others I may have missed. He has stopped since I talked with him, so I won't take any furthur action. — Moe 16:50, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiWorld syndication

Ben: Based on your suggested method for Web syndication of the WikiWorld comic (as well as information posted later by SteveBaker), I've posted the following image file in Wikimedia Commons: Image:Current comic.jpg

I'll do my best to update it weekly, when each new comic is posted in The Wikipedia Signpost. Please let me know if you run into any problems - or if you can suggest a good way to let others know about this option (once we're sure it works correctly). Thanks for the great idea! --Greg Williams 15:29, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unwise

I was looking to see who posted this image; if it was FAFFA, I would have blocked him for 24 hours for trolling on the arbitration case. I'm not sure I shouldn't block you. Supposedly you are the more responsible and levelheaded of the disputants here. Please try to play nice with the rest of the class. Thatcher131 15:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Actually that was meant to be instructional FOR FAAFA. He needs to figure out that he doesn't HAVE to say some things, that other people come up with their own correct conclusions and that this way he doesn't have to say uncivil things... Since it was misunderstood, I'll remove it. --BenBurch 15:26, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
    • It would be best to do that on his user talk page, not an arbitration page. Others might misread your intent as I did. Thatcher131 15:34, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Edits made to Free Republic Evidence

I removed your edits to my section. Feel free to add or edit your own personal section of evidence as you see fit (including referencing mine). I removed it because 1) its contrary to wiki policy to edit others evidence sections, 2) I personally don't want to discuss the details of the his case in my section as its not relevant (only the question of identity is relevant).
