Benxihu Colliery

Benxihu (Honkeiko) Colliery (本溪湖媒礦), located at Benxi, Liaoning, China, was first mined in 1905, under the control of Japanese. It was the location of the worst coal mining disaster in the world. On April 26, 1942, a coal-dust explosion occurred, killed 1,549, 34% of all the miners working at that day.
