Benjamin Curtis (musician)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Benjamin Curtis was the guitarist and backing vocalist for the rock band The Secret Machines, and is one third of School of Seven Bells, in which he sings and plays many instruments in addition to guitar. He is the brother of Brandon Curtis, who plays bass guitar and keyboards for the The Secret Machines. Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, he currently resides in New York City.

Curtis cites guitarists such as Pete Cosey, Michael Rother, Yoshimi P-We, and The Edge of U2 as some of his primary influences on guitar. He plays a heavily effects-laden spacy style of guitar, reminiscent of late 1960s and early 1970s psychedelic rock. [1]

[edit] Gear

Curtis plays Hagström guitars primarily. He uses effects from Death By Audio and Moog, and Laney amplifiers "because Tony Iommi played them". [2]
