Benjamin Barker Odell, Jr.

Benjamin Barker Odell, Jr. (January 14, 1854 - May 9, 1926) was a U.S. political figure. Odell was born in Newburgh, New York (Orange County), where his father, Benjamin Barker Odell, Sr., was later mayor. He was president of the Orange County Traction Co. and the Central Hudson Steamboat Co. He served for ten years on the New York Republican State Committee and was chairman of its executive committee.
Odell was a U.S. Representative from Orange County from 1895-1899. In 1900, he was elected governor of New York, beating John B. Stanchfield; he was reelected in 1902, narrowly defeating Bird Sim Coler. He died in Newburgh in 1926.
