Benjamin B. Weinstein

Benjamin Bernard Weinstein (August 25, 1913 - May 10, 1974) was a New Orleans physician who specialized in gynecology and fertility research.
Weinstein was born in New Orleans to Jacob Weinstein and the former Nellie Salomon. He graduated from Boy's High School in 1930. He then received his bachelor of science degree from Catholic-affiliated Tulane University in New Orleans in 1933. He obtained the M.D. degree from Tulane as well in 1937 and a master of science in gynecology in 1940.
He taught anatomy and gynecology at the Tulane School of Medicine from 1937-1952. In his many gynecologic activities, Weinstein enlisted the help of physicians from Mexico and other Latin American countries. He supported international perspectives in his fertility studies. He is memorialized through the scholarly annual B.B. Weinstein Lecture in the History of Medicine at Tulane.
Weinstein died in New Orleans at the age of sixty.
