"Bendita Tu Luz" (Blessed be your light in English) is a rock en español song, the second single released from Maná's seventh studio album, Amar es Combatir (2006). The song, which features Juan Luis Guerra on the vocals, became Maná's second consecutive number one hit on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart.

[edit] Chart success

Initially, the song proved to be less successful than its predecessor - "Labios Compartidos" - as it did not gained as much of airplay as the latter. Nevertheless, the song reached the top spot of the chart for the week of November 16 2006, being replaced on December 23 by the smash Ricky Martin hit "Tu Recuerdo". At this point, "Bendita Tu Luz" became Maná's third number-one single on the chart, and their second in a single year.

On January 13, 2007, surpassing the expectations, the song regained its position at number-one after ten weeks it had debut on the chart in November 4 2006. As of January 27, is spending a fourth (third consecutive) week on the number-one spot of the chart.

[edit] Music Video

The music video tells the story of how two college sweethearts met. The young woman begins to gain interest in the young man as she sees him all over campus, and observes how he tries so hard to "impress her" or "tries to get her attention" by his goofy acts like bumping into her "on purpose" or "acting a fool with his friends". She thinks that's just his way of trying to get to her. And when she sees that he's making no physical move to ask her out, she decides to be the one to do it instead. However, when she finally has the courage to talk to him she finds out that he's blind and that all his "stunts" weren't stunts at all, but the real deal. For the fact that he is blind doesn't stop her from still wanting to get to know him. The two soon become good friends and eventually their love blossoms. He shows her how life is for him by wrapping her eyes in a blind-fold; and she lets him get behind her car and drive it. Throughout the video Maná is playing in a small club with Juan Luis Guerra. In the end of the video the happy college couple go to the club and dance while Maná and Juan Luis Guerra sing "Bendita Tu Luz".
