[edit] Early life
At age 19, Henderson moved to London to work as a saxophonist for psychedelic rock/funk band Dr. Sky. After a brief period as a DJ in Tenerife, Henderson played sax and congas during the Cactus Park raves in 1991. Upon his return to the United Kingdom, Henderson played with several bands, and was reunited with the bass player Alex Caird, who had been a member of Dr. Sky. Caird invited Henderson to join the band Bôa, who, at the time were a funk band.
[edit] Bôa
Ben Henderson joined, toured and recorded with the internationally successful band Bôa. His mainstream success began after the award winning theme tune for the anime series Serial Experiments Lain. Henderson had given up saxophone, and was writing for Bôa almost exclusively on guitar. Henderson studied sound engineering and Music Technology at The Institute of Music and Technology, the centre for City and Guilds Music Technology, Sound Engineering and Multimedia, where he now occasionally gives lectures on the subject of Music Technology. Henderson is also the sound engineer at the annual Environmental Fair in Carshalton Park in the UK.
[edit] Planet of Tunes
Ben Henderson writes articles and software patches and programs for music and multimedia creators, which are available for free download on the acclaimed Planet of Tunes website.
[edit] Moth
After acquiring qualifications in music technology and sound engineering from The Institute of Music and Technology, Henderson left Bôa. Together with singer songwriter Tina Delgado, Henderson set up the "Black Valve" recording studio and formed the UK band Moth, and recorded and produced Moth's debut album, "Songs for the Lost". Ben married Tina Henderson in 1996 at Staneway Chapel, in Ewell village, UK.
[edit] Film work
Henderson has worked on theme tunes for Japanese anime Serial Experiments Lain and the orchestral theme music and incidental score for the superhero film, The Divider.
In the summer of 2006, Ben and his family created the "Cubinoid" channel on Youtube mainly starring Frooper and Skimo, two finger puppet characters. The Henderson family film Frooper and Skimo episodes using a webcam, and have achieved the top 22nd most subscribed musician's channel on Youtube.
Matt Hawes, creator of The Happy Show featured the first episode of Frooper and Skimo on public access tv. MTV Flux expressed an interest in the Frooper and Skimo videos shortly after the site was launched.
In January 2007, the music video for Moth's "Close the Door" won the trophy for Best Animation at the Surrey Film Festival.
Following this, Close the door won a further award at The IAC British International Amateur Film Competition 2007.
