[edit] Please note
In Devon they ring bells differently. They start with the bell down and ring all the way up, (still ringing) do what they want to do e.g. a method, then ring down. This all without standing! Elsewhere in the UK we ring the bells up then stand them. We do call changes or a method or rounds and then stand the bell. Only once we have finnished ringing on the occasion do we ring the bells down.
