Project 1710 Макрель (NATO reporting name "Belouga") was a Russian SSA diesel-electric submarine. It was an experimental vessel, used for testing propulsion systems, hull forms, and boundary layer control techniques. The last operation is thought to have taken place in 1997, and as of mid-2000, it is believed to be discarded.

The lone Belouga class submarine was the S-553 Farel, launched in 1986 and stricken around 1998.
