Belmont, County Durham

Belmont is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated to the north-east of Durham, just east of the A1(M) motorway. The village forms the nucleus of the Belmont parish. This village is ever growing, with a new shopping centre being built hosting major chain retailers, inlcuding B&Q, Argos and Pizza Hut.
There are 3 pubs, several shops and 2 school sites in the village, as well as many local businesses. The village has also been named on the bus routes from Sunderland to Durham, as a main stop on route.
In 2004, 'Soccarena' was opened in the nearby Belmont Industrial Estate, providing eight 6-a-side soccer pitches for aspiring footballers of all ages.
