Belita Woods
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Belita Woods is a former lead singer of late 70's R&B group, Brainstorm. Brainstorm had a huge disco hit in 1977 called 'Loving You Is Really My Game'. Their follow-up album, 1978's 'Journey To The Light' featured a more soul-funk sound, anchored by the album tracks 'We're On Our Way Home' and ' If You Ever Need To Cry'. Prior to joining Brainstorm, Ms. Woods had an early 70's Epic demo playing on Detroit urban radio called 'I Just Love You' (considered a rare item for those who collect soul music), a soulful Denise LaSalle-ish groove. Started touring with P-Funk All-Stars in 1991. Still actively records & tours with them as of 2006 (albeit her singing style has changed somewhat compared to the old Brainstorm days). In 2001 she sang on four songs ("Scratched", "When Jack Met Jill", "Relax", "Tempovision") on French DJ/producer Etienne de Crécy's "Tempovision" album. The song "Scratched" was produced by fellow P-Funk mate Michael "Clip" Payne who also sings on the song "Tempovision". Currently, she is working on a solo project, she has signed with Diamond Ring Records in Detroit, MI for this project. Her album is due on in Fall 2005. She has three solo songs on the 2005 P-Funk compilation "George Clinton Presents The P-Funk All Stars: How Late Do U Have 2BB4UR Absent?": "Don't Dance Too Close", "More Than Words Can Say" and "Saddest Day".
