Belgian Parachute/Commando Battalions

The Paracommando Brigade (Dutch/French: Brigade Paracommando) is an elite fighting force in the Belgian Land Component, consisting of three Paracommando battalions plus supporting units (artillery, logistics, engineering and intelligence). The brigade forms the core of Landcomponents Immediate Reaction Cell and has its headquarters in Heverlee. A field artillery battery is located in Brasschaat. The three main battalions are located as follows:

Although the battalions have different names, all the troops receive the same training and perform the same duties. It is merely a case of tradition which causes the three battalions to have different names, berets and beret unit insignia. Battalion traditions and colours differ also.
