Belfast Model School for Girls

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Belfast Model School for Girls is an all-girls, non-selective English-medium secondary school located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 2006 the school was granted Specialist school status for ICT, one of only 12 schools in Northern Ireland to achieve this. It is within the Belfast Education and Library Board area.

The school opened on its present site in 1954 and has 1063 pupils and 71 teachers. Some of the areas served by the school suffer from high levels of social deprivation and political unrest.

The school was visited by the Secretary of State Peter Hain on 7 March 2006.

The Belfast Model School for Girls is committed to creating and maintaining a caring community in which:

  • the individual is valued
  • all can achieve their potential
  • the climate is challenging and supportive
  • effort and success are celebrated
  • awareness of the local, national and international community is fostered

This is reflected in our school motto “Achievement for All”. More information on our mission statement can be found at *School Mission Statement
