[edit] Combat

Belegarth is a foam-fighting, or boffing, combat group and so uses padded weapons called boffers. Weapons include swords, spears, bows and arrows, flails, axes, and weapons found in mediæval times. Various types of shields are also used, along with armor ranging from leather to plate. Participants follow a rule set known as the Book of War that dictates how "injuries" are to be portrayed. They often have events at which many realms fight together.

[edit] Scope

Belegarth is divided into groups called Realms. Illinois and Ohio have the largest number of participants. Most of the realms are located within the USA, with a few in other countries, such as Canada and Denmark.

[edit] Events

Events are gatherings that vary from small inter-realm events to National in size. Commonly events will be held for several days, from an average of 3 to a rare week long event. Activities at events vary from large feasts, to fighting, camping, and hanging around massive fires at night. Events are only for people of at least 16 years of age. Events will allow people under 16 to attend, but they cannot partake in the fighting. Merchants can also be found at many events, selling weapons, garb, various Belegarth related items and jewelry. The major National Events are Armageddon, Chaos Wars, Octoberfest, and Springwars. Armageddon, Octoberfest, and Springwars are in Illinois; Chaos Wars is in Idaho.
