Belal Hajeid

Belal Hajeid is a convicted gang rapist. He participated in one of the Sydney gang rape attacks in 2000 where a gang of eight Lebanese Muslim Australian men forced two women to fellate them.

Hajeid, who at the time worked as a window fitter, had no criminal convictions prior to the rape and handed himself to police.

A jury found Hajeid guilty of ten charges, including aggravated sexual intercourse without consent and in company, detain for advantage and common assault. For his crimes Belal was sentenced to 23 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of 15 years.

The Hajeid family was hounded out of their Greenacre home by "friends, neighbours and strangers" after their son's name was released by the press.

Hajeid successfully appealed and gained a reduction in his penalty in 2004.
