Bel-Ray Company, Inc. is a formulator, manufacturer and seller of consumer, industrial and mining oils and greases, over one thousand lubricants which can be applied to a large range of industries and consumer uses..

It is an independent family owned business.

Bel-Ray began operations in 1944 in a small building in Madison, NJ and was incorporated in January 1946. Founded by William C. and Evelyn Kiefer, the early days of the company were focused on the formulation and production of specialized industrial lubricants with the first product line being high temperature bakery lubes.

In the early 1950s Bel-Ray expanded into new markets in the U.S. and Europe, and in 1959, the company relocated to its current 32 acre headquarters site in Farmingdale, NJ where it has continued to grow and expand to meet the steadily increasing volume of business.

In the early 1970s it began its power sports consumer division with the first smokeless 2-stroke motorcycle running at a recommended 100:1 and its mining division with the first pumpable cam compound and extended drain gear oils.

In 1994, William Kiefer handed over day-to-day operation of the business to his two daughters, Linda Kiefer and Daryl Brosnan, who continue to manage the business today as co-CEOs.

Bel-Ray products are most well-known to the general public for their success in having been the lubricant used by hundreds of champions breaking records over the years in all types of racing from motocross, road racing, quads, go karts and offshore power boat racing to landspeed, stunt riding and speedway.
