[edit] Origins

After the dissolution of Aus-Rotten, two former members of that band, Dave Trenga and Matt Garabedian, formed Behind Enemy Lines in late 2000. Relocating from Connecticut and his former band The Pist, Bill Chamberlain joined Behind Enemy Lines and fellow Pittsburgh political punk band Caustic Christ on guitar. Rounding out the group was Matt Sachs, formerly of Devastation.

Behind Enemy Lines picked up where Aus-Rotten left off. The music emphasizes elements of old-school metal more than their predecessor. Aus-Rotten was active during the time of the Clinton administration, and their lyrics tended to focus on cultural atrophy and hypocrisy under the guise of liberalism. Writing new material under the Bush administration gives Behind Enemy Lines a different perspective and focus, with many songs confronting public atrocities, selfish economic motivation, and the subversion of civil rights.
