Before Jerusalem Fell

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Before Jerusalem Fell is a scholarly work written by Kenneth Gentry as his PhD dissertation in theology from Whitefield Theological Seminary which has since been published as a book. The book presents a sustained argument from fields such as exegesis, ancient history, textual criticism, archaeology and theology for why the Book of Revelation was written before the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 some time during the reign of Roman emperor Nero. Gentry argues that Nero Caesar is the "sixth king" presently ruling (Rev. 17:10) who functions in Revelation as the Beast. The book is controversial in that it goes against majority evangelical and Dispensational opinion that the Book of Revelation was written in the reign of Domitian in AD 95. The pre-AD 70 date for Revelation was the dominant view of scholars in the 1800s and first two decades of the 1900s.

The book is presently in its third edition and is published by American Vision in Atlanta, Georgia. It is also available online at http://www.freebooks.com/docs/2206_47e.htm
