Bedstone

Bedstone is a tiny village and parish (population 85) in the county of Shropshire, England, close to the border with Wales. Its church dates back to Norman times, and some of the houses are more than 600 years old.
Bedstone is home to a private boarding school, Bedstone College, which is run by a non-profit educational trust. Famous former pupils include Astronomer Royal Sir Martin Rees, and explorer Monty Halls.
Its parish council has now been merged with neighbouring Bucknell parish council, although the church is linked with those of the Hopton Castle and Clungunford group.

A bedstone is the lower, stationary member of a pair of millstones. A bedstone is generally slightly convex or domed, while the upper, or runner stone is slightly concave. This facilitates the movement of the ground flour to the outer edges of the stone from whence it may be gathered and bagged.
