[edit] Category DRV
Hey there. Thought you might want to know that there's a DRV on a category you deleted up; it appears User:Selmo hasn't contacted you about it, so I thought I'd let you know and get your comment on it. Cheers. Tony Fox (arf!) 07:17, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Greg Graffin
Hey, what's the connection between Greg Graffin and The Weakerthans? Just curious. - TheMightyQuill 04:40, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Interesting, I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip. While we're on the subject, should Christine Fellows be added to the same section, since she's appeared on a Weakerthans album, and jks has appeared on hers? - TheMightyQuill 04:55, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] LSRfm.com
What do you mean: duplicate cat; filing doesn't work this way anyway. LSR is a college/university radio staion in the UK, so why do you keep meddling with my catergories?
Barry Carlyon 10:21, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok tahnks for clearing that up

[edit] User:64.141.104.2 and Corus stations
Bearcat, I think we have a bit of a problem. I see you talked to this user about "making our articles look and sound like Corus Entertainment's marketing materials". But check out this guy's contributions, he's edited a bunch of Corus radio articles again. I noticed it because I have CFPL-FM on my watchlist, and he made this edit. It seems somewhat good faith, all he did was remove a paragraph a screw up the intro without wikifying it. Similar behaviour on CFPL-AM, CFHK, CKDK (which he fucked up again, changing it to CJOB-AM), and CJKR. Check it out.
By the way, consider archiving your talk page eh? --Reaper X 23:36, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, well I've given him a full explanation. Thanks for you help in this. --Reaper X 23:58, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Fuckin eh Bearcat. I think you gotta take that fool to dispute resolution. His behaviour is getting ridiculous. --Reaper X 02:47, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Nevermind, do whatever needs to be done, I was oblivious to the fact that you're an admin until now. --Reaper X 04:11, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Please use edit summaries
Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be low:
- Edit summary usage for Bearcat: 10% for major edits and 99% for minor edits. Based on the last 150 major and 124 minor edits in the article namespace.
Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 04:32, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- I usually use edit summaries, but when I'm in a hurry I sometimes forget!--milk the cows (Talk) 05:56, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lawrence Ytzhak Braithwaite
Hi, Bearcat, Knowing of your interest in Canadian literature and gay issues, I thought you might be interested in a series of peculiar edits that have been taking place to Lawrence Ytzhak Braithwaite these last few days. Any advice you might be able to provide would be much appreciated. Thanks. Victoriagirl 22:07, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Durham-Sud vs South Durham Quebec
Just curious, but shouldn't the English Wikipedia have English place-names before the French ones? I don't know what the precedent is. Misterjerk2 23:51, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Talk:France Inter
Your WP:WPRS tagging I have corrected as per diff. The template should be on the talk page and not its source! If you have made similar mistakes on other pages, kindly do correct them. Happy editing, STTW (talk) 15:26, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- Have a look at your edits on Talk:CFRH-FM and Talk:CFIF-FM, which are not template substitution. Perhaps you might reconsider your response! WP:WPRS has no mention that the template should be substituted, you should add the template there and also on the project page WP:WPRS#Templates. My opinion is that WikiProject templates should not be substituted as they could/should be expanded as the project grows, which we always hope for. Cheers, STTW (talk) 18:06, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Goldbergs
Thanks for the head's up, I watchlisted Lucienne Goldberg. Seems kinda like a bizzare choice of targets for vandalism. Makgraf 02:56, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] HI!
Hello Bearcat, that is such a cool user name!I know what you go through, in a science class in high school I used to have a classmate that had very hard depression, he now lives in Australia.I wish you a great time at Wikipedia and outside the world of Wiki!Trampton 03:55, 12 March 2007 (UTC).
[edit] R3
- Wha?! Really? I didn't know that... On satellite you mean? I don't have a satellite radio yet... they're sending me one cause of the interview :). What do you mean with a nickname?
By the way, how relieving is it that everything has been so quiet here lately? I know I probably just jinxed it, but I think this is the longest stretch of calm yet! Let it be permanent! -- Chabuk [ T • C ] 04:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. I hope I get the radio before they stop playing it! Though I sounded a lot better in my head when I was giving the interview than I actually sounded. When I heard it on the podcast I couldn't believe how bad it was! I rambled like crazy. Anyways... "The Facebook Kid" eh? *Shrug* Kinda cool I guess! -- Chabuk [ T • C ] 06:32, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] vandal
I'd suggest a range block of 58.10.167.* for a few days. It seems to be from Thailand, and I doubt it would have much collateral damage. I know he's got a few other ranges going, but that's the most frequent recent one. As to the tag; he's clearly not going to pay attention to any tag. The tag is just to indicate he's been warned, for any admins who haven't been paying attention. I use that one because it seems to piss him off most. Derex 10:00, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Hag could use an sprotect too. He's still at it. Yet another Bangkok subnet. Derex 11:28, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm guessing vandal 58.10.etc is an American using a proxy because (1) this recent edit by 58.10.167.213 makes an anti-NDP comment, and (2)Deetdeet's opinion that NDP is anti-American (BTW, I'm not suggesting that Deetdeet is the vandal) --EarthFurst 08:32, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Colm Tóibín
Hi there! I'm curious as to why you made this edit in regards to the Colm Tóibín article. I've removed those categories, as I can see that you haven't provided any sources to back up your claim (thereby violating WP:BLP). Making assumptions about the personal life of an author based on one of his chosen fields of research and fictional works are not appropriate for an encyclopedia. gaillimhConas tá tú? 23:54, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again! I've re-added the categories after finding and mentioning the appropriate references in the article gaillimhConas tá tú? 00:00, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pop Explosion
Oh the pain, I run the damn thing and I edit wikipedia... we are not a rock event, we had significant urban and folk components the last 6 years. Its more like a new music folk festival. I think canadian rock festival is totally incorrect but I am loath to edit this as its my baby IRL and it seems inappropriate for me to just change this.
PS I have agree with you about the Music of Canada but I have no idea where to start. WayeMason 00:02, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thanks! WayeMason 00:09, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- I have a way to move forward rapidly on Music of Canada. We can move the "regional folk section" out into a new article, Folk and Traditional Music in Canada and we could move teh timeline out into History of Music of Canada. We could cut it down to a managable overview. Is this a good move? What do you say? WayeMason 00:50, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Album categorization
Why is Category:Albums by Band Q under Category:Albums of genre X. I think Category:Albums by artist is enough. Generally a band plays the same genre, say "genre X", but what if they release an album of "genre Y"? It shouldn't default into the genre X category. Could you clarify the rationale behind this for me, or point me to a discussion where this decision was made? Thanks. − Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 03:00, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Canadian identity
Simple. Anti-Americanism has been a featured policy of the NDP and Liberals over the past decade. It is this anti-Americanism that feeds the need of some in Canada to think of themselves as different from the Americans. Deet 23:03, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Anishinaabemowin language Userbox
Aaniin, with great effort from User:Miskwito, we now have the oj series of Anishinaabemowin language userboxes. On the WP:IPNA/Nish page, we have a matrix of the possible categories for the oj series and the major dialect groupings. You can now add to your Userpage one of the oj userboxes that are available or you can help create a userbox for the dialect of your interest. Please see Wikipedia_talk:Babel#Ojibwe_language_userboxes for the full discussion. Miigwech. CJLippert 23:29, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] edits vs graphite
Hi bearcat, thanks for the edit on Socialist Party of British Columbia. Clean-up without access to a university library is taking longer than the hour it would have to use a typewriter and the Avery Art Index. Looks a lot better back-lit though. Feel free to leave any graphite on any large structures. (i can't remember how to spell graphete at the moment) My favorite is 'My Karma Ran Over My Dogma' translation 'someone stole (deleted) my portfolio of artwork (article) so I better write on something permanent instead.' 350 design students in one building, the good ol days. Now everyone knows is dogs. No wait its 'on the Internet no one knows you're a dog'. Sorry, must be dain bramage.--John Zdralek 05:06, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Progressive Bloggers, Blogging Tories
Hey, have you thought about writing up a deletion review for Progressive Bloggers? The point you made about reviewing that article and Blogging Tories together (every time) is very much correct... but that's sort of impossible now. Watchsmart 04:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Never mind. I'm a dummy, of course. You returned it yesterday. Watchsmart 06:40, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
After a valid AfD has taken place, don't you think the proper course of action might have been DRV? Has anything changed to make the website more notable since the AfD has closed? Also you may want to review whether your participation in the AfD and subsequent restoration of the article after consensus emerged for deletion constitutes a conflict of interest.--RWR8189 07:49, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
I have brought the matter to DRV.--RWR8189 18:18, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
My apologies, apparently you had already brought it there.--RWR8189 18:29, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
And I noted it as such above. Thanks.--RWR8189 20:40, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User Mayor Quimby
Hi Bearcat, over at Regina, Saskatchewan and some of its associated articles a number of issues have developed. The cause is a user called Mayor Quimby, who until recently operated under the cover of an anon. IP address (206.163.235.114). I write today because I noticed that the said user has given semi-protection to his talk page and a number of article pages, including Regina neighbourhoods. Can a new user protect pages at will? I thought only admins could do that. The user is causing a disruption in a number of articles and has made a mockery of Wikipedia policy and guidelines. --Mumun 無文 10:27, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification ^^ Mumun 無文 23:54, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] DRV for Category:Women writers
Hi Bearcat
I hope it's OK to msg you about your contribution to Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 March_18#Category:Women_writers, but I know that not everyone puts such pages on their watchlist ... so I wondered if you would like to review my response to your thoughtful contribution to the debate. My concern is that your vote will (as far as I understand things!) make it impossible to achive the outcome you seek. Thanks! --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:48, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] CKWT-FM = Wawatay
I've added the link in CKWT-FM for Wawatay, but there isn't a reverse link yet at Wawatay. CJLippert 22:06, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] help
I need your help. I'm now very tired and annoyed reading, since days, advices and pages about wikipedia policies without finding a real solution. Since days I wait for an administrator to cancel my account. I found incredible being in the impossibility to cancel an account I created. I asked "Do I have to make vandalism in Wiki pages to finally found someone clever enough to answer to my request and cancel my account?" .. I had no reply. Please accept my request and cancel definitively my account from wikipedia. Thank you. MDMDMDMD —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MikeMcGD (talk • contribs), 31 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Q Television
Hi Bearcat! Thanks for letting me know about your revert of my edit to the Q Television Network page. While I concede your point that encyclopedic entries can never become "outdated," I do think it's possible to have "irrelevant" information in an article. All I was trying to do with my edit was clean things up a bit...as the Network (and the company) no longer exist, I didn't see how a listing declaring that the stock was trading at 0.0001 (an unverified claim, by the way) was pertinent at this time. I also felt that the sentence beginning, "In what was widely seen at the time as an 'f-u' gesture to management..." is entirely inappropriate to an encyclopedia as well as fraught with weasel words and again lacking a citation. Also, I'm not sure why you reverted the link to the actual Q Network itself...I deleted it because it no longer exists (the page redirects to an online squatter). In my opinion, that makes it an "irrelevant" link at this point (and technically spam), which is why I deleted it. I'm open to debate, though. Thanks again for the heads-up!
