The first meeting of what was to become the Beacon Hill Volunteer Bushfire Brigade (commonly- Beacon Hill Bushfire Brigade) was held in October 1948 at what was then a Roadhouse in Warringah Road, Beacon Hill. Today the local Caltex-Woolworths outlet stands on that point.
Earlier meetings of the organisation had been held in a cave located on Red Hill, which is located behind the Beacon Hill High School site.
