BCN Competicion

BCN Competición is a GP2 Series and Italian F3000 team placed on Barcelona, Spain, managed by argentinian engineer Enrique Scalabroni and Jaime Pintanel.

The team was created on 2003 International Formula 3000 pre-season and, in its first year, was known as a rent-a-drive team due to high number of drivers who passed by team that year (drivers such as Will Langhorne, Alessandro Piccolo, Ferdinando Monfardini and Rob Nguyen). This year, it had many financial difficults and virtually didn't have a big sponsor.

In 2004, the situation got better with coming of veteran driver Enrico Toccacelo alongside argentinian new-star Esteban Guerrieri. So, with the same drivers along the year, the team has established and has got a superb 2nd place on Teams Championiship, with 84 points (56 from Toccacelo and 28 from Guerrieri) just behind Arden.

This great 2004 year put BCN Competición on the circle of top teams. BCN became a threat for new GP2 Series alongside Supernova and Arden. In 2005, the team hired venezuelan new-star Ernesto Viso and japanese Hiroki Yoshimoto, waiting for, at least, some victories and many points.

But, comparing to the previous year, 2005 was a great disappointment. BCN couldn't threat temas like Arden and ART. The team ended the year with 35 points and a bad 9th place on the Teams Championiship, far from the top teams.

BCN hopes to get a better place in 2006 championiship. The team has hired Champ Cars driver Timo Glock (who brings DHL as sponsor) to compete alongside Yoshimoto.
