Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) is located at 3500 Gaston Avenue in east Dallas, Texas (USA). Its medical services are often listed in the annual U.S. News & World Report compilation of Best Hospitals. It annually wins the Consumer Choice award from the National Research Corporation because of the reputation BUMC has for excellent physicians and nurses.
Baylor is a not-for-profit health care system with over 100 years experience in technological and medical breakthroughs. Originally created as a 25-bed hospital, today Baylor Health Care System employs more than 15,000 [1] employees and is the proud recipient of an impressive array of clinical awards and honors; these include Consumer Choice award as most preferred health system in Dallas, Magnet hospital status, America's "Most Wired" hospitals and health care systems, and U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Hospitals. The center began in 1903 as a hospital to which medical students of what is now Baylor College of Medicine could admit patients. The current president is John McWhorter, and the current chief of medical staff is Sue Bornstein, M.D.
