Bayalatada

Bayalata or bayal atada literaly mean opean theater drama. This is one of the art form found in Karnataka. This is mainly a form of dance which marks the end of harvest season. After the harvest season the performance blossoms into open air as Bayalata.The heroic,mystic,spirited reliving of various legends of epics and the theatre of battle scenes of heroism ,loyalty and treachery,colour and pageantry -The Yakshagana is performed open-theatre.

The Yakshagana stage is set before the village temple on a sandy beach or in open fields.A low platform about 16' 10 20' with Bamboo poles at each corner garlanded with flowers,plantain and mango leaves, and roofed with matted palm leaves.At sunset the piercing sound of chande , a high pitched drum announces forthcoming performance.
