[edit] Promo
As usual, the Rotana Music Channels and some other cannels run promos for the upcoming albums. Songs from Baya al Ward were sampled, especially. Later, the album also had promo pictures from the video-clip the hit song Baheb Nuoa Kalamak in which Hijazi returns with her beautiful brownish-golden locks and classy styles.
[edit] Overview
Hijazi has won huge acclaim from both fans and critics by the release of the album. The music video of the title track was heavily criticized and caused huge controversies that she was promoting homosexuality . Hijazi denied the allegations but critics argued that, the T-shirt she was wearing in the music video had several symbols imprinted on it, which belonged to a garment manufacturer that specializes in clothing for homosexuals. At a press conference she held in Dubai to announce the launch of her album, Hijazi clarified that she did not know what the symbols on the shirt meant or that she never thought to find out when she chose to wear it.
Critics argued that Hijazi had gone to the extreme and cut her hair shorter than that of an ordinary man or in other words, the versatle once again changed her looks, trading her sleep and shiny long, brownish golden locks for short pixie whitish-blonde hair and gowns to boyish trousers and T-shirts.
In a candid interview, Hijazi stated that with the immense help of her colleagues and some talented image consultants she got this new look to match the jazzy theme of her album's title-track.
On the other hand, critics began accussing the video of Baya al Ward of being unusual because Hijazi chops her hair off and jumps off of a cliff at the end of the video depressing over the guy who left her.
Despite of the heavy controversies behind the video,"Baya al Ward" is considered Hijazi's finest album according to a number of fans - and the attacks however had a positive impact, for it propagated the album. Most amazingly, more than 3 editions were sold, and this put Hijazi one of the biggest-selling singers in the Middle East, and one of the most wanted performer on stage.

[edit] Baya al Ward
The album's title track, Baya al Ward is arguably one of the most controversial songs in Lebanese Music History. It tells the story of a young girl, turned almost insane by the depression she received when her lover broke his promises. The song opens with Hijazi chopping of beautiful strands of her white-blond hair. She faces the camera and the song begins.
She goes down the stairs and smokes and then leaves off in picturesque blue convertible, driving up a long and straight road. She drives the car, as if in a dream. Her lover's broken promise appears in a thorny plant that ravages her body as she drives, until her car crashes into a lone leafless tree by a lake at the edge of a mountain. And there, under the vast smoggy sky, she wakes up, blood on her thirsty lips. Finally, Hijazi, takes the wet path towards the lake.
The video for Baya al Ward was heavily played on the radio and on record channels, and was praised for its immense originality and artistic shorts. A classical ballad, Baya al Ward is a song with very sincere and sad feelings when Hijazi stressed that she truly is hurt because her lover leaves her. The topped charts and became one of the greatest hits of 2006 and probably one of the most famous love-ballads ever.
[edit] Ba'ad Sneen
Ba'ad Sneen (After Years) was released on 2005, becoming the album's lead single. It received critical acclaim for the originality of its music beats. The song potrays Hijazi as a young Lebenese girl living in a traditional Arab village. When, her lover leaves her, she is heart-broken. After many years of punishing her heart and waiting for him, she now finds it hard to accept his wish of coming back to her. There are also many flash-backs of the wonderful time Hijazi and her lover had together.
[edit] Baheb Nuoa Kalamak
The album's third single, Baheb Nuoa Kalamak (I love what you say) was released in the early 2007, directed by Mirna Khayat and chosen over Yahia Sa’adeh . According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Hijazi revealed that she had received numerous scripts for the clip by different directors because of the immense popularity of the song, even before the music video was released.
The song won great acclaim from both fans and critics because of its amazing and unique fast-beat usic style. Hijazi gets back her "older" look and her classy styles. The song shows her as a young, rich girl only interested in her lover. While at a restaurant with her family and relatives, she escapes and goes to her boyfriend where they have a lot of fun and dance together. Hijazi's boyfriend then shows her the potrait he made for her. At the end of the song, she leaves her father and as it is revealed, goes to her lover.
[edit] Rajaa
Rumors have spread that, Hijazi is currently working for the video on this song. The song is a classical love-ballad and fans predict that it will be Hijazi second Zaman. All other news relating to the song are unknown.
[edit] Other Hits
[edit] Jnoon Behabak
Jnoon Behabak is Hijazi's great duet with the young star, Rayan. Hijazi agreed to put this amazing classical ballad inside the album Rayan's preparing to release. This came after the two agreed that the album will feature only in the album Hijazi's release during summer, which is same time she released Baya al Ward. Hijazi however had one condition; she wanted Rayan to release his album after, or with, her album, which would be a double-propaganda for the two.
[edit] Lamma Tghammad Aeinak
A slow, classical-ballad, Lamma Tghammad Aeinak is considered a hit because of its unique Lebanese music tunes. It is unknown weather there will be a video for this song.
