You know a lot for a non-administrator. I am a Wikipedian in Australia and I would like to get Adminship very much. Batzarro
Well I don't wanna be an administrator ;) so that's why as well. Also I am kinda controversial sometimes... KittenKlub 17:04, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

First check whether it is not a copyrighted picture, because most pictures are copyrighted. If it is not use the Upload file option <--- see the left of your screen and fill in the details like source and license. If you took the picture yourself just say so otherwise mention the website and check whether the website is free (because most aren't). KittenKlub 17:25, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Britney Spears
I keep adding stuff to the Britney Spears page, but i am stuck in an edit war. Batzarro 17:00, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Try talking to them on the talk page of Britney Spears. I'll see what I can do. Gimme a moment KittenKlub 17:04, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- From what I see is that they don't want too much trivia and I think it is correct. Some parts were kept, but you might want to talk to Fabricationary what is appropriate and what isn't, because there are many things but most are not that relevant in general. Try talking about it on the Talk page and I think that you can work it out. KittenKlub 17:06, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
I am from Australia, which country are you from?Batzarro
I am a fan of Angelina Jolie,CArrie underwood,and Britney.
How can I attach a photo of 1 of em on my user page.Batzarro 17:22, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Your page looks great now. You made one little mistake. You closed the Image tag with 4]'s instead of 2]'s. I know very little of Carrie Underwood. She is pretty well known in the US but not that known in Europe, so we haven't heard that much from her over here. But I'll give it a listen. KittenKlub 17:44, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Could you explain what are 4s and 2s Batzarro 17:48, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I was a bit cryptical. You typed ]] but that way you get some ] in your user page. So if you type it'll be correct or (even better) because that'll give a link to Angelina as well. [edit] Re: userboxes suck man
Userboxes aren't my gig, but I do know the rules for using images in them are a lot more strict than they are for normal articles. It's all got to do with copyright and legal mumbo jumbo like that, but the skinny of it is you can't use an image on your user page or in a userbox unless there aren't restrictions on its use. Basically, only images that have been tagged with a "GFDL" template in their summaries. Most images from comic books and things like that aren't allowed. That's about all I know. I imagine the people who do Wikipedia:WikiProject Userboxes know more. –Abe Dashiell (t/c) 04:36, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, mostly it's original artwork, generic public domain stuff, and really old images. It's an encyclopedia, though, so finding cool images for people to use on their user pages isn't a high priority. –Abe Dashiell (t/c) 04:49, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: HELP
Hi, to add a contents table in your user page, you need to add == Section == to the user page not ----. And if you upload an image and you want to use it you have to add it to the page like this, for example, the px thing is for how big you want the picture to be on the page. The right is how you align, you can align centre, right or left. Thumb is for thumbnail. --Terence Ong 05:54, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Name
Indeed, I use Ankalagon as a name because of the Ancalagon dragon in Tolkien's work. I use it with a K because back in my irc days, the nick was in use. I use it as a nick because I find poetically beautiful that Ancalagon, a symbol of the Greater Evil, destroys Thangorodrim Gates (and, ultimately, the Greater Evil) upon his fall.--Ankalagon 10:47, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Change to pagan userbox image
Could you please explain why you changed the image for the pagan case of Template:User religion? The pentagram is a Wiccan symbol, not one that stands for all of paganism, and as a Hellenic polytheist I would rather not have this image, which does not represent my religion, placed on my userpage as representing it without my consent. Not all pagans are Wiccan. - AdelaMae (talk - contribs) 14:51, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's fine. No offense taken. - AdelaMae (talk - contribs) 00:12, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- There is really no symbol for paganism as a whole. Like I said, I am a Hellenic polytheist. One organization I belong to, Hellenion, uses a twelve-pointed star as their symbol. Other symbols used by members of my particular religion include the thunderbolt and the caduceus. Personally, I wear a necklace with an emblem of Medusa. I liked the image that was there because it was really abstract; it could either look like fire (a common element in pagan rituals) or a mountain range (since many pagans feel a deep connection with nature). As to whether I worship Zeus, well, I prefer to say I "honor" rather than "worship", but I do honor him as part of my religious practice and I do pray to him on occasion. - AdelaMae (talk - contribs) 06:11, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

- I am a jain veggiterian. Please refer to my article on Jain vegetarianism. I am considering it vandalism because you took another religions symbol and typical colors and put it on another religion. That would be like me putting the generalized devanagari symbol of OM on a christianity userbox. --Shell 14:12, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

- It's really easy to eat without meat. Also, only certain Jains don't eat seeds. Some don't even eat root veggies or veggies grown underground. Many Jains (such as me) are not like that thou. And also, the broom and mouth thing isn't really practiced anymore. Also, I don't know any Jains that don't get their hair cut. Most of this was only practiced by very strict Jains in the "old days." But, many textbooks make it seem like it still happens in the majorty of all Jains. It's sad that it has to be that way. --Shell 17:13, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ashida Kim
Could you please tell in what way you thing the Ashida Kim article is biased? You put the NPOV tag there but didn't explain your reasoning at the talk page. I think the present version is quite neutral, given the subject of article is someone representing the lunatic fringe of martial arts community (and also a Wikipedia vandal). jni 10:59, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Chinese martial art
Well, what does best mean to you? Maybe it just means the best-looking acrobatics to some people, in which case you can watch some Wushu tournaments, but that's probably not what you mean. There's San Shou, but it's more or less kickboxing. Anything that involves full contact sparring is better than nothing. I don't think there's such a thing as the best art unless the art includes all possible techniques. So, mixed martial arts is the most complete, by definition. You can call it JKD if you want, but it's just a name. The process is what matters. Shawnc 06:50, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Hapkido is supposed to be practical, just make sure you get to spar in school instead of doing forms and predetermined exercises too often. Wing Chun techniques aren't effectiveness in the ring so far, so beware. If you're interested in becoming a good fighter at today's level, you need to do both grappling and striking. The consensus is that for striking you should do Muay Thai or some form of kickboxing and boxing, and for grappling Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wrestling (amateur/sport wrestling). Other grappling styles include Sambo and Judo. You can try other arts to mix it up, but those are the basics, if you will. A good role model would be this guy. A good mixed martial arts gym will tell you everything you need to know, maybe you can try this place. Shawnc 18:42, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Shawnc, they should have sparring as a major component of their curriculum, as well as groundwork. Ultimately, the best martial art for you is the one you like. Hapkido and Muay Thai are both fine martial arts for young people. I've run into them doing san shou, and they seem to produce tough fighters IME. I haven't sparred with any JKD or BJJ guys (that I know of, they didn't start to get really popular until I was mostly out of the tournament thing, I retired from san shou competition in 1991 or so), so I won't comment. Also, some Hwarang Do guys I ran into about 20 years ago were plenty tough. Of Chinese styles, it is almost impossibly difficult to find a good T'ai Chi teacher (my fave), but styles like Baguazhang, Xingyiquan, Praying Mantis and some Eagle Claw are fairly complete. --Fire Star 22:49, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Capoeira
Looks fun, and probably no school teaches it solely for combat. Take it up if you like the dance. Shawnc 09:16, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
If I had to pick out of those: San Shou first and then Hapkido, not due to grappling but because you may get to spar and compete more often in San Shou (I enjoyed it in university), but there is some ground fighting in Hapkido -- to be good you have to do ground techniques seriously, for which I'd definitely suggest you give Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a try or at least Judo. Choy Li Fut is a bit obscure, and Aikido curriculum has a rep for being aesthetic. Ninjutsu I recommend to guys who like to dress up as ninjas, although this one guy won a couple matches (and was beaten up for the next three). If you liked boxing and hated Shotokan/Karate, you'd probably like Muay Thai.
Pure strikers often have a hard time against pure grapplers, while both of them will have a hard time against experienced mixed martial artists who do everything. See Ramon Dekkers vs. Genki Sudo for example. Anyway we should be using these pages for editorial discussions only, but feel free to send me an email if you want chat some more or see some videos. [edit] Old English Bulldog
Hello, further to your addition that the OEB is derived from Mastiffs etc., would you please provide the citation for your statement at the article. I am not saying you are wrong, but this far along into the article and your bold statement would require a citation to ensure accuracy. Cordially WritersCramp 13:49, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I read your response at my talk page. I think if you want your Mastiff comment added you would have to do more research and find a citation. Currently, it is just Point-of-View. I am going to remove it for now, until you find some citations. Cordially WritersCramp 14:17, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- I pulled out my Old English Bulldog books and determined the following: Historians are fairly confident that the Old English Bulldog is derived from ancient war dogs, such as, the old Mastiff or Alaunt. Others believe that the true origin of the breed is not entirely clear. One safe theory is that the Bulldog was first developed in the British Isles and was originally bred for the sole purpose of bull-baiting. If you want to confirm my work the citations are:
- Shaw, V. (1879). The Classic Encyclopedia of the Dog pg. 84. ISBN 051743282X
- Dieter, F. (1996). Fighting Dog Breeds pg. 34

- Mollett, K. (1997) The Story of the Real Bulldog pg. 9 ISBN 0793804914
- Terriers were not used until the Bull and Terrier. Please read that article and you will see how the breeding worked through.
-
- Pug came after the bulldog, so it was not a progenitor to the bulldog.
Before you edit any more dog breed articles, would you please buy a bunch of dog breed books, specialized for the breeds you are interested in. Your additions, are highly Point-Of-View and NO citations. Thank you WritersCramp 16:42, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted your Dog fighting is legal in Pakistan at the Bully Kutta article. I will get back to you with citations in the near future. Are you citing the Molloser.com webpage ? I notice he is claiming it is legal to dog fight in Pakistan. If you have some other citations, please let me know, we can incorporate them into the Dog fighting article too. [edit] Image Tagging Image:Warg.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Warg.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Sauron in Bakshi's LOTR film
Hey, Batzarro. It's been a little while since I watched Bakshi's LOTR all the way through, but to my recollection he doesn't depict Sauron visually at all after the prologue with the backstory about the creation of the Rings. Of course, Bakshi's film only gets as far as Helm's Deep, so it's not a huge problem; Sauron remains mostly an off-screen menace for most of the story anyway. Hope this helps! —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 06:42, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm... I'd say that Bakshi's film was a valiant attempt that ultimately failed. It's arguably closer to Tolkien's novel than the Jackson films are, since it retains more of Tolkien's dialogue, but I don't think it conveys the sense of a complete sub-created world as well as Jackson's films do. It's like a literal translation of a novel or poem written in a foreign language that loses some of the poetic sensibility of the original.
- You ask if it has "action packed battles" or if it's disappointing — its battles aren't particularly strong, but honestly that's not what I see as the heart of The Lord of the Rings. I love The Lord of the Rings for the depth and beauty of the world Tolkien created, and that's where (in my opinion) Jackson surpassed Bakshi. There are some good parts of the Bakshi film — his Nazgûl are wonderfully creepy, and Lothlorien is beautiful (as I say, it's been a while since I saw it all the way through, but I think I may prefer Bakshi's portrayal of Galadriel to Jackson's). But he also makes some questionable choices, such as making Sam a comic buffoon and putting Boromir in a Viking helmet, not to mention turning the conflict between Gandalf and Saruman into a disco light show. He also doesn't manage to convey the thrust of the narrative as well as Jackson does — Bakshi keeps Tolkien's words, but doesn't convey Tolkien's meaning as well as Jackson.
- Ralph Bakshi's half-completed Lord of the Rings is probably about as good a film adaptation as it was possible to make before the technology which enabled Peter Jackson to complete his masterpiece. Even though the film is flawed, I still think it's a pity that he wasn't able to complete the story. It would have been interesting to see how he finished the story, and it would be nice to have two complete versions of The Lord of the Rings on film. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 16:49, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Meeting fair use doctrine (was "Vandalism")
Why did you delete my Britney Spears upload and vandalize my user page? Batzarro 16:39, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

See point 2 of Wikipedia's fair use policy. For all images on your userpage, those are blatantly against the fair use doctrine. See point 9 of Wikipedia's fair use policy. As time goes by, all such instances will be eliminated from userpages, you just happen to be one of the earliest to be affected. -- user:zanimum
[edit] Other comments from Batzarro
Hey you are a serious GOODY 2 shoes vandal. I was using the britney pic on MY page until some idiot named kooorooo added it to britneys page and u had to revert the photos on my page.
HJey,many users use fair images on their user pages. YOU cant be reverting all of us so lets leave it alone. Batzarro 16:50, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I and others can be reverting every fair use image off userpages. Lead me to some other users that fail to comply with Wikipedia's fair use policy #8, and I will deal with their pages also. -- user:zanimum
[edit] Administrators
Kooorooo tells me you want "to take it to the admins". Here are some links that should be of help to you: Wikipedia:List of administrators, Wikipedia:Requests for administrator attention. -- user:zanimum

[edit] Wikipedia policy
From your message to me:
- "...my edits are my point of view": This is called "original research" and it is against Wikipedia policy as called out in What Wikipedia is not.
- "... which I gathered from moloss.com": This is fine except that in the one instance I've checked so far (Old English Bulldog), you added info that the terrier was mixed into the breed line, but the page you gave in the edit summary as a reference says nothing about terriers. So if you cite something, it's helpful for other editors to be able to actually find it.
- (slur against other user): This is also explicitly prohibited by Wikipedia policy ("Do not insult, harass or intimidate those with whom you have a disagreement. Rather, approach the matter in an intelligent manner, and engage in polite discussion. If a user acts uncivilly, uncalmly, uncooperatively, insultingly, harassingly or intimidatingly towards you, this does not give you an excuse to do the same unto them").
- Incidentally, the Three Revert Rule on Wikipedia says that users "must not perform more than three reversions, in whole or in part, on a single Wikipedia article within 24 hours", which is what you did with Old English Bulldog on Jan 22-23[2]. I've added a topic for dicussion on terriers to the article's talk page; please take it up there, civilly, to prove your case. It's much more pleasant for everyone that way.

[edit] Stop spamming admins
Please stop spamming the talk pages of admins. It is disruptive. If you want a page unprotected, go to WP:RFP. --GraemeL (talk) 18:39, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Batzarro, you promised not to put fair use images on your userpage, and then I see this. I have been forced remove them again and to reprotect the userpage. Sjakkalle (Check!) 09:49, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] fair image vandal
I deleted fair images on your userpage. Looks like you dont practice what you preach!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Batzarro 10:55, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- My apologies on leaving the fair use images on, I focus on editing Wikipedia in positive and large amounts, and don't usually narcissistically fawn over my userpage. They were hidden at the bottom, and I missed them. They have been removed now, and are simply links to these milestone edits. -- user:zanimum
Why did you remove the tag on Kooorooo's page, that said he was suspected to be a sock puppet of you? It was only suspected. -- user:zanimum

[edit] vandalism is unnaceptable
Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Hipocrite - «Talk» 20:04, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!
I hope you like Wikipedia — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! Ther]]. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on [[User talk:Tvae's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal or leave me a message on my user talk page.
[edit] Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!
- If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
- You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
- Don't sign Encyclopedia entry pages, but do fill in the Edit summary block.
- You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
- If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
- If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
- Be Bold
- If you are ever in need of help, be sure to leave a message on my talk page, or put
helpme
on your user page. - If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.
Happy Wiki-ing.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:KIRPAN.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:KIRPAN.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Hipocrite - «Talk» 13:30, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

I am certain neither of those images were pd-old, as they were taken in 2001. Hipocrite - «Talk» 13:30, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

- I have not accused you of vandalism. You are making good faith efforts to improve the encyclopedia. However, due to either your inability or unwillingness to follow proper procedure here (including spaces after commas, for instance), and you general unwillingness to learn the various policies of the encyclopedia (WP:NOR stands out), you are generally unhelpful. Additionally, it is quite obvious that you have used sockpuppets before. Hipocrite - «Talk» 16:17, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Read my lips
YOU DO NOT HAVE 2500 EDITS. You miraculously have survived 1400 edits without being permanently banned. But do not ever edit that list of non-admins with lots of edits, or you will face serious and permanent consequences on this project. Also, you have made 128 edits to your userpage in 14 days. Stop. Okay? I've only made 141 since 23 December 2002. -- user:zanimum
