Talk:Battle of Mount Doom
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hold it! This battle is unofficial! In the books, no battle is fought at Mount Doom, and there is instead a Siege of Barad-dur which lasts seven years. It is at that battle that Sauron enters the fray himself and is defeated by Isildur. The Battle of Mount Doom only takes place in the Peter Jackson movie trilogy. Tolkien supercedes Jackson, so this article should clearly indicate the unofficial nature of this battle. Roy Al Blue 03:06, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, in the books the final confrontation between Sauron and the leaders of the Last Alliance took place near Mount Doom. It isn't called 'The Battle of Mount Doom' anywhere, but it is not inaccurate to say that a 'battle' was fought there when Sauron attempted to break the siege. --CBDunkerson 12:07, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
