Battle of the Year

Battle of the Year, commonly referred to as BOTY, is an annual international breakdancing competition. Regional elimination events are held worldwide culminating in World Finals which are held at the Volkswagenhalle in Braunschweig, Germany. The format comprises firstly a showcase in which all countries perform a routine demonstrating their ability in the different styles of breakdance. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges. The four best teams are selected to take part in the final 3/4 and 1/2 battles. Teams from all over the world take part and the competition is very highly regarded in the breakdance scene.
On occasion with the annual competition, it is released a CD/LP labeled "The Official Battle Of The Year Motion Soundtrack", which features some of the leading B-Boy Funk artists such as Def Cut, Cutmaster GB and DJ Phantom.
